You have to threaten to kill me before I fly with a jet from South East Asia.

He somehow lost his left tailplane, and then he stalled the plane, leading to an uncontrollable roll into the drink.

What's wrong with those planes?

The aircraft was build in 2014. The ATR-72 has a love/hate reputation. There are airlines who absolutely love the plane but some claim it unsafe. The grand majority of accidents however, happen with airlines who have very questionable reputation, like Transasia.

However, this is the second ATR-72 who has had an engine-flameout in 1 year in Transasia.

2 in one year? Sounds like sloppy maintenance.

The ATR-72 is a aircraft with popular and very reliable engines (Pratt& whitneys), so i really doubt its the aircraft

Right, Indonesia's Wings Air with its shoddy reputation never lost any of its ATR-72-600s. It is a good and very efficient aircraft indeed. The Italo-French aircraft is a strong seller and can be seen in 4 out of 5 permanently populated earth continents. They are very popular.

Yes, the ATRs are vulnerable to sub-tropical icing conditions, hence it has tighter operating limits in the North America after American Eagle crashed one of its ATRs.

However, its closest rival, the Bombardier Dash-8Q400, also face similar problem, particularly with its main landing gear. Especially in the hands of Hjaldrgud's home flag carrier, SAS

So far, need to hear similar reports from QantasLink, Air Canada, FlyBe, or Lufthansa Regional. I believe they have more relaxing story than the clumsy Scandinavians about the Canadian prop jet.

Anyway, TransAsia is Taiwanese, supposedly a small island nation with a very tight regulation enforcement. But TransAsia has been quite notorious recently due to both ATRs lost to similar reason (pilots declaring mayday over engine failure) and for them being a low cost airline with poor showing.

God, I hate flying. Being a piece of meat in a metal tube hundreds of meters above ground, zooming away at 500+ km/. I'm totally with Neo from the Matrix. I do not believe in fate, because I don't like the idea that I'm not in control of my life. When I'm in a plane, two guys in the cockpit has the total control of my life.

I still fly, but it is something that I really do not like doing.

Not just the two guys at the front most seats... but also, thousands of guys in the factory assembly line, dozens of guys in the design room, accounting room, management board room. And then, hundreds of guys in the maintenance hangar, the guys wandering around the plane before the flight, the guys sitting at fart-stinking chair with giant radar screen in front of them and a microphone headset, the guys sitting around you. The guy with the 'mighty pen', the guy that write the aircraft service bulletin, the guy whose job is to mail the bulletin, bunch of 9gagers and alike commenting on aircraft accident that might influence regulators to the wrong direction due to mounting public pressure (on the basis of ignorance).

Society works that way. Even you have to trust the farmers growing your tomorrow morning's muesli cereal breakfast ingredients do not accidentally ground hidden mobster victim corpse when he/she harvests the crops. Have to trust that the packaging guy does not pick his nose too often before he close the lid of that muesli carton box you eventually bring home.

I think you have to let it go.

You people are strange, i love flying, when there is an announcement where they say there will be turbulence during the flight then i am even happy about it. as long as things don't start flying around inside the plane.
I also sleep quite well in an aircraft, i love the constant but gentle left/right rolling of it. Takeoff and landing is the best feeling ever though.

Due to the route i fly most often the plane i sit it is most of the time a AVRO RJ-100.

AVRO RJ-100.
Avro RJ series has even in the economy class hands down the most comfortable seats of any airliner, whether business or economy class; soft, luxurious leather couches you can sink into. Or at least Brussles Airlines's Avros had those back in 2006-2007 when I had to commute weekly between Helsinki and Brussels.
