If you come to Finland never go to Lapland. It's seriously overrated. I've been there once, spent a week in a cottage in the middle of a forest. I've lived most of my life on the country side in central Finland and it looks exactly the same (but I guess my parents wanted to see different kind of trees).

I liked your mosquito picture, a little overreacting never hurts.  :P

PS. Hesburger is far superior to McDonald's. Bigger burgers, cheaper and better dressing.

I think I have to go with Olympus and Anctoville. They are both quite boring.

And...
So here is mine least wanted:

1. Totalize
2. Lebisey
3. Goodwood
4. Tunis

What is this madness? Replace Goodwood with Giarabub and you have the four best maps of the mod.

Perhaps the spamming could be avoided. If someone spots a tank with binoculars it gets marked/reserved for the spotter. So if the tank gets destroyed after that the spotter gets points. This way there wouldn't be a need to spamspot because it wouldn't be useful.

Of course there should be a time limit on how long the spot is reserved.

Use the minimap or learn to recognize the different uniforms.

It seems that hslan got yet another one today.

DavidCameron was banned for cheating. He had a K:D of five as infantry on Lebisey. I guess he had some sort of a wallhack to see through bushes and walls.

For some reason cheating has become more popular since 2.26.

I prefer the aggressive style. First hide, smoke and then charge. The only problem is that not everyone likes that. One day I was leading a squad and was always the first at the flag (And died a lot too). Then one of my squadmates started complaining that I have to hide in some bush so they can charge the flag. The problem was that they never spawned on me or actually achieved anything. At the end of the round I was the one with the most flag capping points.

I guess that in the end the guy learned not to question me :P

You were a bit too late there Hi. We were shooting at Thorondor's stuka and Flippy came out of nowhere and just drove over me. Luckily you avenged my death quickly.

General Discussion / Re: FH Game Night #6
« on: 30-05-2010, 08:05:23 »
It was really fun! This was my first time participating and I have to say that it's completely different than in pub. More teamwork and more skilled adversaries.

Played through PEB. I kinda like the 64 version more than the 16 but I understand the big map would have been too much with such a few players. Also played halfway through Supercharge. It's ages since I last played that map and my skills were kinda rusty.

I hope I have a chance to attend the next game night too.

If you want teamplay on HSLAN, join a squad that has a custom name, they usually have some level of teamwork.

If you are French, try the !@! -squad. Other good squads are Jagdgruppe, Ezy's 'Allo 'Allo and Mirco's squad (can't remember the name, was it 9th squad or something?). If there's a squad called Teamplay and it's led by someone you have never heard of, don't join it. It usually means that the original leader has left and the new one isn't that good at leading.

I edited my previous post but you can ignore it. I now feel like a complete idiot when complaining about the bren. You can ignore the bren whine.

About the Bren: it has no deviation in normal mode, only in deployed mode. In deployed mode the deviation is very small, but ONLY if you lie down.

So how is it supposed to be used?

I've played through the weekend with the new version and here are my experiences so far:

First the good ones. Port-en-Bessin is awesome with its ferocious street fighting, long range sniping and tanks. It immediately became one of my top-5 maps.

The new sounds are also amazing. Especially the panther (although the sound that the turret makes when you turn it starts to annoy you after a while). The distant mg-fire makes me feel like I'd actually be in a real battle. The planes are also scarier now.

The APC-tuning has greatly improved the gameplay experience. No longer do I have to get stuck with the half-tracks because they won't turn. The speed increase of the jeeps is great, they actually feel like cars now.

The drilling is three times as awesome as the winchester. The bazooka and the panzerschreck now work like they should. They are now perfect.

Of course, there's also something I don't like.

First, the new design of Falaise. The push-mode was a brilliant choice and made the map more playable but the new looks of the map just make it disgusting. Everything is annoyingly too well covered, high walls everywhere and it just feels like a maze. There also several building that just look out of place (like the barn at destroyed battery for instance). Falaise used to be one of the best maps but now I hate it. You should have just added the push-mode and that's it.

Second, the bren. The sights are good but you can't hit a brickwall with that thing. There are several occasions where I run and spot the enemy, I crouch, aim and pull the trigger. A few single shots and each and every one them misses the enemy by two meters. I haven't made a single kill with the bren at medium or long ranges. Close encounters where I can just rambo around give me kills but that's it. The deviation ruined the weapon. I think you did the same thing with the BAR. These two weapons were perfect in the previous versions but now they suck. And I'm angry.

But despite a few flaws, the patch was good overall.

Suggestions / Re: Mortars
« on: 24-04-2010, 18:04:04 »
I found something that could be very to do with mortar ammunition...
Trowing mortar shells like if it was a grenade ! Like in Saving Private Ryan (after 40seconds)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2B4NXV8qyg4&feature=related

Could be very cool to use this when in a desesperated situation.

I don't think this is even possible. Quote from wikipedia:

Quote
A mortar is relatively simple and easy to operate. A modern mortar consists of a tube into which gunners drop a shell. A firing pin at the base of the tube detonates the propellant and fires the shell

So if you hit the shell it flies from your hand.

Off-Topic / Re: Cat revolution
« on: 17-04-2010, 11:04:34 »

Here's my cat. Otto is the name.

@Lainer: Great story. It's amazing how strong cats are. Otto has survived a dislocated back leg. The vet had to pull it back to its original place and even though it healed, you can still see some limping when Otto walks.

One day Otto came home with a hole on his left side. It was shaped like a perfect circle, like he would have been shot or he had fallen on top of a pipe or something. The skin was gone and you could see the flesh. Otto didn't seem to care about the wound but kept living normally. Fortunately, the wound healed.

He also carries a tick or two every summer with him. :)
