Lately I have become more aware of a common phenomenon where people are seated or standing behind some form of cover that leaves part of their body exposed. Aiming at the unexposed bodypart however does not result in hit indication or a kill - irregardless of the weapon, including highly zoomed and accurate snipers. Obviously I took bulletdrop into account.
In more and more maps I am starting to find these annoying 'quirks'. I seem to have the impression that some people are deliberately exploiting these places where visual and factual cover do not match. Even stranger is that they *can* often fire from their position through whatever is blocking the shots from my side.
--- For example,
Purple Heart lane from the 2nd MG position from the river, sniping the little wooden house on the end of the bridge. Two persons were on the ground next to it - stationary. I wasted 2 entire clips experimenting with angles without succes. One of them sniped me in the end
I only tried this once (yesterday) but I will experiment with this in the future.
---
Point du Hoc, leftmost bunker from allied side (near first allied spawn position in the open field). If you are on the left of this bunker, you are looking towards a small hill. Behind this hill there are bushes, with one open gap. In this gap there are often people with MG42 or rifle. And in many occasions on that particular place, I fail to hit them although they look perfectly and clearly exposed - in the end usually getting killed after many shots.

Tunis, I think it is Prophet's gate (right entrance through the city wall from Allied perspective). Between the crates you see a building where there are sandbags on the first floor. Using sniperkit I have been unable on many occasions to hit people seated or even standing behind these bags. The distance is very short, so people fill your view quite nicely with the sniper and I could pick headshot, belly etc. I tried this for about 15 minutes, and found I mostly hit nothing there (but occasionally I did, depending on position of the person)
There are many other such spots on maps, but I only recently starting to research them a bit better.
Let me be clear that I usually have no problem hitting anything at any range - I have a large 24" screen, stable ping of <40, plenty of FPS and a decent aim. But it is the repeated fail to kill a target despite obvious exposure on the same places over and over that are quite obviously now becoming exploitable purposely.
I attributed this effect partly on my geometry settings or the distance (LOD). But even on high settings and closer shooting distances I get the same results. When getting very close you can usually make the shot, so there *is* some space to shoot through apparently...
