Bug Reporting / Spitfire on Totalize
« on: 27-07-2012, 19:07:18 »
I think it's Mk. IX (the new one), it has inverted flaps (meaning if you go up, the flaps go down). It looks just so weird :D

Suggestions / Iron sights for sniper rifles
« on: 22-07-2012, 09:07:03 »
How about adding iron sights to sniper rifles? Like in RO2. It would be "simple", really - add another weapon slot with the exact same model (ie with scope), just change animation for that slot so that you don't aim through the scope, but through the sights. Then you can easily switch between them using the keys 3 and 4 (defaults). Would be cool to have that ;)

Suggestions / (American) Kit Revision
« on: 15-07-2011, 17:07:46 »
Okay, so as FH2's player models are of topmost quality, it kind of hurts to see them being rather plain as in not having enough equipment strapped on them (I'm talking mostly American kits here).

For example, I can think of only about two kit geometries having a canteen on the belt. Same goes for a shovel, it is used only in a couple of geometries, one of them being the tanker (or driver, not sure now) kit geometry, neither of them officially used on any map with any kit. Also a lot of stuff is missing and/or is used incorrectly - e.g. no Thompson/M3 Grease Gun magazine pouches AT ALL, which is something you notice rather heavily (and it looks twice as awkward to have en-bloc clip pouches for M1 Garand instead; and the Germans actually do have MP40 mag pouches.. mhmm GERMAN BIAS!), would be great to see BAR and M1 Carbine ammo pouches as well (the M1 one has even been modelled already, as it is on the actual gun itself - altho something is telling me you can't just take that part of the model and put it in another :/) with Colt mag pouches for NCO geometry.

Furthermore, it might be interesting to see frag/smoke grenades "hanging" on the soldier's chest. (I also wouldn't mind seeing more kits with goggles, for example Assault kit could have them :P).

Finally, given that we now actually have Airborne models coming with the Ardennes, it would make me really happy, if there were two sets of geometries (UW and UB), the latter one being obviously used for Paratroopers and having M1936 Musette bags exclusively (i.e. no 1928 Haversacks).

I guess it isn't going to happen, but I just had to put it out there since I believe it would make soldiers look much more believable/real. Please don't punch me ;)

Bug Reporting / M4A1 Sherman insta exploding
« on: 21-06-2011, 21:06:50 »
just happened to me, I was on the .50 and saw a StuG, bailed out, 2 seconds later the Sherman went ka-boom while I was 5 m away from it and I survived with minor bleeding... until that frakkin wreck exploded 1 second after. guess it ain't a bug per se, but it's REALLY annoying  >:(

afaik, this was the case with P4 pre-2.3 which was fixed, dunno why it's happening with the M4 now :(

Suggestions / Bazooka idle/hold anim
« on: 16-05-2011, 15:05:02 »
Right, so in the last patch, the stance of most weapons was lowered (but somehow G43 with ZF managed to slip through your fingers, it is still being held unnaturally high ;)) which is great and looks/feels much better and is a nice compromise. But I'd like to propose a similar thing for handheld AT, that is M1A1/M9(A1?) Bazookas, RPzB 54 Panzerschreck, Panzerfausts and PIAT. Although you may shoot all those weapons all you like without aiming down the sights, it will get you killed in almost any instance so ppl use it practically only with sights. So why not make soldiers holding these AT weapons like the lil' fella below does? (basically it is the same stance as if you're sprinting so not much of a hassle making this I guess)

edit, now with even moar nitpicking ;) - seeing as the soldier is holding the new M9 Bazooka in one of the newest pictures, would it be a lot of work to change the animation so his right hand would operate the trigger and the left hand would underlay the other hand? I mean, the FH2's Bazooka doesn't even have a stock a soldier could grip...  afaik, an update or two back, pistols were hold in the same manner. anyway, a picture is worth a thousand words so this is what I'm thinking:

this would be cool for the M1A1 version as well :P :-*

General Discussion / FH2 Intro Music
« on: 14-02-2011, 20:02:24 »
Here's what I've been wondering (after I listened to that song again a while ago), is the intro music an original piece or is it really the beginning of Hail The Victor? Just curious ;)

FH2 Help / Support / Low model quality?
« on: 07-02-2011, 03:02:25 »
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6fwDiZj3HXI&feature=feedu - the surprise teaser for 2.3.

Now, at 0:55 there is a dude with Bazooka. What really caught my attention was the very model of that Bazooka - and that's because in the video, you can see the model has that wire/cable which leads from the trigger to the rocket. But I don't have that in my FH2! I play on max settings and only get this:

As you can see, no wire ???

Is there any "secret" setting I should/could know of? Because I want that high poly Bazooka in my FH2, sexy!

FH2 Help / Support / Xfire
« on: 25-12-2010, 15:12:59 »
Does anyone here know how to set up Xfire so I could record videos or, in best case scenario, broadcast live feed? I saw many videos from FH2 on multiple xfire profiles and I tried to search how to do this but since you can read this post it's obvious I failed ;)

FH2 Help / Support / 2.26 release installation
« on: 09-07-2010, 04:07:39 »
http://ifihada.com/~jbp/fh2pub/release-2.26/installation/ - links don't work, or well, it says Forbidden and that I don't have permission to access blablabla... Given that the 2.25 links work, I think these should too, can we have this permitted? :P

Suggestions / M1919A4 .30 cal effectiveness
« on: 11-05-2010, 00:05:15 »
Okay, here goes, after rather a long gameplay time with that honey, my suggestion to actually make it "useful" and feared machinegun.

First, let's take a look at its counterpart - the Lafette (MG42 is rather a counterpart of the BAR, as those guns are actually spawn kits and not deployable pickups). You can see a guy manning Lafette almost every round and on almost every map you can find them (either if it's an MG34 or MG42). The Lafette actually follows its real version's footsteps - in laying down a massive highly accurate suppresion fire which pins down/kills everyone in its way and soldiers on the other side of the barrel just literally shit themselves while under the fire. Noone actually tries to get that Kraut manning it or well, if he does, he rather pays for it. It also has the advantage of the tripod itself, which is rather high so you can set it up wherever you want to and you're basically fine in every spot on the map (on top of that, you can adjust the height of the tripod).

Now to the .30 cal - that gun is just bad. Not that it was bad in WW2, but it's bad as it is "portrayed" in this game. What I mean: every single enemy who you are shooting at with your .30 is just simply laughing at you the moment he figures out where is those tracers' origin, not scared at all of dying for two reasons: first, nobody worries about dying in FH2, you just respawn after 15s - which isn't my point, and I do not aim to propose a change to that, second, the rate/cone of fire of the actual gun is actually rather bad (nothing you can do about, it's just how it was in RL) therefore every enemy will just try to pop his head out (if he actually bothered himself to dive for cover at all) and he will manage to own you with just one shot almost exlusively. The thing is, unlike Lafette which is a fairly good shield for the player himself because of its construction, the .30 cal doesn't provide cover to you at all (talking about rather far distances, as on 10 meters everyone will own a guy behind Lafette because of obvious reasons) meaning even if the .30 had the fire ability as German MGs, it would still be more vulnerable head-on. Also, unlike for Lafette, there are very few places where you can even set the gun up properly with some reasonably good view and even less if you want to start killing before enemy picks you with his rifle, because of the gun's low profile (low tripod, that is - although that tripod should be adjustable at least a bit just like the Lafette one, shouldn't it?) which really doesn't give you much options. In real-life, this wasn't that much of a problem, as they would just set it in a ditch but in a way that only top of their helmet would be seen (frontal leg would be higher than the two others and soldier's body would be in cover of the ditch/crater) - that cannot be done in BF2 because every gun you deploy on even a fairly sloped terrain will appear in a horizontal position (only in extreme terrain height differencies but then the guns are useless totally). Also, soldiers could actually deploy it in a window/another higher positioned places with the use of a table or something similar while actually standing behind the gun. This, as well, cannot be done (or well, it could, like you would have "2" .30s in your kit but one would deploy with lying use animation (just like now) and the other would have the soldier standing behind it.. but I dunno how would that work out actually).

All in all, nobody can wonder how come Brownings are lying alone in the bases unused while Lafettes are pouring it on Allies on the frontline. So here comes my little suggestion how to maybe increase the rate of survival for user of this MG:

Add a small, at least bout the same size as the soldier's head, invisible impenetrable plate to the front of the gun (note I don't suggest it in front of the soldier's face) so enemy would really keep his sorry ass down if you're suppresing him (not like now, where you are just poorly trying to actually pin him down) while an enemy for example a 30° next to you still would be able to kill you (I'd love to see proper flanking actions against every MG in the game because they really were feared, but as that also depends on the players themselves that will probably never happen so eh...). I understand you can't (in a multiplayer game) artificially force the player to DO something (in this case, flank the position completely, otherwise you will fail every time - like in Brothers in Arms where it was impossible to take down MG from the front and you had to actually flank him to get him) because it would feel unnatural as soldiers were able to take that MG gunner down, they just couldn't because their pants were being colored brown in the process of shitting themselves out of that MG tracers flying above their head (and there goes the problem with players being actually willing to die just try to get that bastard).

What I want to see in the game is most definitely not an undefeatable guy lying behind MG and pwning everyone who dares to come into his FOV (*cough* Lafettes *cough* :P) but to at least make that darn thing being used by other players and not just me because of my bad deviantion for it. I mean, when you drag that thing half across the map (PHL) you do deserve to actually gather some nasty kills/enjoy a nice scene mowing down Krauts, don't you? ;)

Now, let me have it... ??? :-*

Suggestions / Tank Commander
« on: 05-04-2010, 17:04:17 »
Would it be possible to make tank seats for tank commanders so they could crouch in the cupola? Just like when you're on .50 in HT etc.(although a slightly different animation whilst crouching would be great) It rather sucks when you go for some kind of a "roleplay" (although it's a nice addition to gameplay as well tbh, as you can spot enemy armor/targets your driver doesn't see and even easier because you have higher ground) and you get ripped apart by the other tank's MG. Simple crouch could prevent that.

Suggestions / Playermodel gear variation
« on: 31-01-2010, 01:01:46 »
mhmmm

I just saw some pictures from the war and it just got me thinking: how about some more variety in gear on some particular kits? Like say, add this radio for US Recon kit (just like the British Engineer has his backpack) and I personally think this would be awesome and raise the level of immersion in the mod to 200% 'cause how do those guys out there report all that enemy stuff for our guys? Yeah that's right, they use their goddamn radio! Also MG belts for Support kits, M1C helmets (with that fancy camouflage please!) for US Paras if there's (and I seriously hope there IS) going to be an US Airborne model and just stuff like that... you know, more eye candy can never hurt :)

(oh and now I'm going to contradict myself a bit and I know this isn't gonna happen but I just have to say it - get rid of those awful British Turtle helmets!!! Brodie helmet <3... :P)

Off-Topic / Name me WW2 movies
« on: 19-01-2010, 19:01:37 »
Hello everyone, I've been thinking and I've come to a conclusion that a day has come when I just can't seem to remember some of those nice movies from WW2 (directed mainly in 70s-80s). So I'd be very thankful if you could name me all movies you guys on these forums know. Every single movie from WW2, go! :-*

(You can actually exclude Band of Brothers, Saving Private Ryan and The Thin Red Line - those have been watched again by me not so long ago).

The screenshot says it all... Is that happening to someone else too? Is there any way to fix it?

(G43 Scoped works just fine)
