THe wood? Sand it down, and get some dark laquer for wood

Just got my friend's D-Boys Scar-L, gonna repair it for him.

Going to a game saturday, gonna be 6 and a half hours and slightly into the night, excited for it since my AKM-47 has been repaired.
Still deciding on either bringing the G3 or the M16A1, what do you chaps think?
