Disabling rocket launchers when prone
« on: 30-10-2012, 20:10:56 »
IRL if you try shooting a rocket launcher while prone you would burn off your legs. Isnt it weird this isnt suggested (or reported) before? I suggest either disabling the launchers when in prone, or giving the red-screen to the player who fires it on prone. Gosh, I still cant believe this was unnoticed...  ::) Anyways, what do you say?

Cheers,

Yeah, they do that in real life, but in FH2 the legs look closer to the back of the lancher, where they are in the danger zone. And you cant change that afaik.

So you seriously want to disable firing it prone? Because of that?

So what? Isnt it logical? A trained soldier wont fire it like that. Well, at least putting his feet right in front of the back of the tube where all the flames and smoke comes out - just like what a BF2 soldier does when going prone.

Well, no, it's not logical at all. Why, you ask? Because this is game.

This is really really minor "inaccuracy" and I highly doubt devs are going to change prone animation/stance (whatever it is) just because of this and certainly they are not going to disable it firing because of this.

Maybe we should disable proning alltogheter because players may clip their feet through walls and that's unrealistic!

Common sense is a mighty "tool" to prevent people from being seen as stupid.

Well if you disable prone rocket launchers, nobody ever shoot me with those in a tank again.
- It's still up!
- No it ain't.

Only way to get the more realistic effect is to create backblast.

That way you CAN fire it prone, but will hurt yourself if you lie flat on the ground.

The next question becomes, how do you suggest creating backblast.

Consider that a weapon fires just ONE projectile. Or is there a way to have an extra damaging effect when a projectile is fired?

No offense Turkish, but I laughed ;D

In my opinion any kind of change/fix is not necessary. I don't care that much if a soldier might burn his legs because they are positioned wrong when prone. The important thing is that soldiers were able to shoot the rocket launcher while being prone. That's the main point. When we would move on a detailed level of adjustements like you suggest, the Fh2 devs would have an endless list of things to fix. I also did not even think once about that problem to be honest. I guess I'm not the only one :P
