Suggestions / New Faction: Greece
« on: 25-10-2018, 19:10:27 »
Greece entered the war in the 28th of October 1940, when Italy declared war after having been denied peace full takeover. The fighting took place in the Albanian-Greek border. Although a relatively week country, lacking equipment from vehicles to rifles, Greece managed to push back the Italians, all the way back to north Albania.  Things were looking bright for Greece, up until the arriving of British aid.  Up until then, Greece had kept a neutral stance, but it's new prime minister was persuaded but Britain to join the Allies.  Adolf Hitler, which was planning for the upcoming campaign against the Soviet Union, saw this as a major threat, and after smashing their way through the Balkans, the Germans joined the Italians on the offensive. Greece, now finding itself surrounded, tried to hold back the German, but after 1 week of desperate resistance, the line collapsed and the German army took its way to Athens.  The remains of the Greek army was evacuated to Crete alongside their Commonwealth allies, which was too captured after a heroic last stand against the elite German Paratroopers.

 Maps:

Battle of Elaia–Kalamas   -Here the Greeks halted the Italian advance

Klisura Pass   -A strategic location captured during the Greek counter offensive

(Klisoura. Italian tank. In the backround Trepesina)

Hill 731  -A strategically important hill fought over during the Italian spring offensive, the last one the italians fought on.

Fort Roupel  -One of the many forts of the Metaxa line, guarding Macedonia. It was attacked by German and Bulgarian forces, and refused to surrender even after the declaration of cease fire.

Units:
The Greek army was heavily infantry and artillery based, with some cavalry elements(try moding that in XD). Mechanized units were none existent. The presidential guard also joined the fighting.
