Well, I understood him. But as I said, it´s for the nighttimes, when there´s no admin online. Normally there is an admin online who can skip this part if necessary.

*Cough*

18) Totalize
19) Lebisey
20) Goodwood
21) Lüttich
22) Lebisey

01) Totalize

Unless you made a typo, I'd suggest to change something right there. ;)
No it´s on purpose. For the late hours, when the last admin is gone he sets the first Totalize as next. This will keep the playernumbers high for a long time. During the other times of the day there should be allways an admin online.

He's pointing at the fact that there are 6 Normandy maps in a row at later peak hours.

humbug is pointing out the fact, that the server would be empty in no time if we dont set a string of popular maps late on.

we would be delighted if the forums opinion about "popular maps" is representative, but it is not!

we honestly try to reintroduce the african maps into the cycle (trying to keep some diversity by changing the africa maps incycle almost weekly), but we are facing some strong competition, which is in no way interested in the "unpopular maps" to keep up the playernumbers.

frankly said: we try to play the classic maps as often as possible during the primetime, but we cant afford losing 20+ players as early as 23:00 by not playing a popular map.

So do I have to sign up to be part of the Forgotten hope gay night? (I'm ceral!)
Ty for the Hslan guys for replying. All though people may like Normandy more, a lot of people are simply getting bored playing the same 6 maps over and over again. Once when I was in your server, and I typed something like, "This is the third time I played goodwood today" and there were waves of comments from people who agreed. Normandy is great, but it wasn't made to replace N Africa theater!! All though you may lose 10 or maybe 20 players, you usually see a lot of Africa fans joining up. I have seen supercharge get 64 on your server. Ty for taking the time to reply, and ty for excepting the criticism with maturity. Love your server, you do a good job of running it.

Yeah, the problem is the normal majority of players, which are actually not represented in this forum, like normandy only. We as serverhosters have to live with this fact, but to keep the NA-veterans happy and have a good mix we are changing our mapcycle very often.
Infact I would love to see every map in the cycle once, but we can´t do this, as it would kill the server.

well, you might remember FH1, and the way it went when some new servers challenged for the limited playerpool it offered.

the established servers (playing almost all maps) faded, and the "publicwhores" succeded. hslan tried to counter that developement, which ultimately failed, when we had a problem with our serverprovider for some time.

since then we decided to concentrate on the FH2 mod, and we tried to apply the same philosphy which we fielded since our BF42/FH 0.6 days: a well administrated server which plays an more than average number of maps while having a look at the playernumbers.

help us to keep up that reasonable approach.

Ok I understand thanks :)
By the way I wasn't targeting your server, I talking about all the servers in general. But now I know why you guys keep replaying the popular maps. You guys pay for the server, and naturally you want it full. I will try to play at different times, so I don't encounter the same maps.

Well, when the Server is full and running we will play all maps in the cycle, so join in and help to fill it up early. So we can start with Africa more early.

I think the 2.15 and 2.1 maps should be in the cycle, plus the fan favourites from 2.0 (like Sfakia, El Al)

hehe when you think about it, the server cycle is a bit like the setlist of your favourite band. They are playing all the songs from the latest album and the "old fans" moan about some classics missing and how sick they are of that new "totalize" hitsingle.

in my opinion this is not as a "setlist of your favorite band"
i think they have to set a mix of africa and normandy maps to make happy all people, and no 100 normandy maps, then 1 africa, and another 100 normandy maps
if some people dont like the map the server is running simply quit the server

(sorry for bad english)

if some people dont like the map the server is running simply quit the server

And that´s the point! With Normandy you get a full server. When you play to much africa the people are leaving the server. That is what we, as serveradmins, are noticing every day.
