In other words=The russians (And mikhail kalashikov) had been experimenting with assault rifles far before the germans. But because of wartime situations they dropped it. Otherwise they would have had it before the germans.
I always thought wars were the best times for weapon developers, as their products are the most needed then. Also, many other Russian weapons were introduced during the war, so simply stating "they dropped it because of the war" is a tad too simple, imo.

You don't introduce a new standard infantry bullet in the middle of a total war for survival. The germans only did it because they were batshit insane and there is evidence that they would have actually ran out of ammunition for their StG44 is the war had dragged on for as little as 2 months because production could not keep up with demand. The Russians did not introduce many new infantry weapons during the war. They actually stopped producing the complicated Tokarev SVT40 because the old mosin nagant was easier to manufacture and use. The PPsh41, PPS42 and PPS43 are basically simplifications of existing designs, using ammunition already in use pre-war. While they did use some experimental or stop-gap measure weapons like the AVT40, these were all derived from already existing and mass produced weapons. Because that's how you win a war, not by mass introducing experimental weapons that require massive restructuring of an industry that should be churning out stuff non-stop.

I agree, we all know how the Shermans fared vs the Panzers. But still, most weapons are introduced in wars and in the periods leading up to them (few years before the war breaks out, some people stretch this period too long). I'm not only talking about WW2 then, btw.

great job on these animations. All weapon animations look a lot more intricate and natural (finger joint movements, etc.) I bet that was a ton of work to achieve. The MP40 appears to have a new sound file as well, sounds great.

The SVT look so similar to an AK 47. Has the Ak 47 been developed by the same guys? And can the AK 47 be called an predecessor of the AK 47?

The SVT-38 and -40 were developed by Tokarev. The rifle that came before it, the AVS-36, was a hunk of junk developed by Simonov. The SKS was based off the AVS-36, and it came out in 1945 and actually saw action in Berlin.

The AK-47 and the STG-44 are completely different. The only design element they share is the long stroke gas piston. The STG uses a stamped, enclosed upper receiver, a tilting bolt, a removable trigger group, and a slide-in magazine well (it actually has quite a few design elements in common with the G3 and CETME rifles, which were based on the STG-45). The AK-47 uses a machined (later stamped with the AKM in 1963) receiver, a rotating bolt, a receiver cover, a built in trigger group, and a rock-in style magazine well.

As you can see, they are completely different. However, they were developed only a few years apart. There is a rifle based largely on the STG-44 though; the Czech VZ.58.

Awesome work Chad, you're the man!

Thanks so much for taking the time to show the community what you've been working on too. We certainly appreciate all the hard work it takes to make these weapons come to life, but also that you went the extra mile to put together a demo video to keep everyone up to date.

Keep up the great work!

I recommend that the soldiers left hand on the Mosin Nagant to be move a bit forward from rifles magazine, unless they did actually hold the rifle by its magazine, they didnt right? Because the hand's holding position makes it look like the soldier is holding it a bit awkwardly.
Also the Bar should be lowered a tiny bit so the player can see more of the battlefield than his gun.
Im pretty sure everyone's talking about the awkward dimensions the russian rifles have.

Other than that, Damn good job! This is possibly better quality than DICE's work based on the tools you guys have at your disposal, almost like a normal man being able to create something great with ordinary tools compared to the high budget business man making something...not so great. Very good work!
