Actually the funny thing is that we reformatted the 'advanced' rig after it was infected with a virus and there is nothing running in the background. There is no internet connection or anti-virus program is installed. Just Microsoft Office and those two games.

Meanwhile, the older rig has internet connection and anti-virus and yet Pacific Fighters ran slightly better and MM2's frame rate was through the roof.

Anyway guys, I'm gonna let this thread go since the new rig is going back to my grandmother's hands in a few days. Though thanks for everything.

The other rig specs is:

1.0GB of Memory
150GB HDD
AMD Sempron 2.7GHZ
GeForce 6100 with 256mb of video memory

The rig I use has:

448mb of RAM
Intel Celeron 1.6GHZ
80GB HDD
VIA-S3G Unichrome Pro IGP 64MB of video memory.

Both of these rigs run on Windows XP.

EDIT: Never mind, guys. I've asked someone about the 6100 and he said it was an integrated chip. So no matter what the games will still run like crap.

Though now I have to figure out how my old rig with 448mb of RAM and 64mb of video memory runs better than one with 1GB of RAM and a 256mb GPU.

Everything's all good so I'm still confused on why games are so d@mn laggy....I'll check Nvidia again and see what comes up there.

Well for all you Nvidia users I have a question. My grandmother lent us her PC for a while after it broke down and after it was fixed I decided to have a go at testing the PC's GPU.

The GPU is an Nvidia 6100 with 256MB of memory. I ran Pacific Fighters and tested the Shaders by activating the 3D water and the framerate is like a d@mn turtle.

Then I switched the video mode from OpenGL to DirectX and the framerate increased a bit but it was still laggy. My older PC with the 64mb GPU ran better than this one.

So I tested an old game (Midtown Madness 2 and this game only required 8mb of video memory) and what was real shocking was that the frame rate was not very great. My older rig had a more decent framerate than on my grandma's PC.

So guys I was hoping if you could help me out with this one. How is it that a 256mb video card has trouble running a game that only requires 8mb of video memory?

If it is an integrated graphics card, it is unlikely to run BFV as BFV has quite advanced shaders compared to BF1942.

And it requires a GeForce 3 GPU, so that's it, BFV will not work on my rig. :(

Oh, okay. D@mn my PC. :(

No chance that some kind soul would support you with let's say 120$? Nowadays any PC for that price can handle BFV.

I am planning to get a new rig this year, and when that happens I'm getting BF2 as well. Always wanted to play FH2. Looks awesome. :)

The official minimum Specs for BF Vietnam are:
Code: [Select]
933 MHz CPU,
DirectX 9.0b, 3D accelerated AGP Nvidia GeForce 3 or ATI Radeon 8500 64 MB or equivalent DirectX 9 compatible video card,
DirectX 9 compatible sound card,
256 MB RAM,
2.0 GB free hard drive space

These are the minimum requirements, so your PC will have some performance issues. Especially with the GPU and your CPU, where the recommended speed is 2Ghz and you only have 1.6Ghz.

Edit: I just read that BF42 has 20-25 Fps on your system, then I don't believe that it will cope with BFV. (I had to upgrade my PC in 2004 for BFV)

Oh, okay. D@mn my PC. :(

Off-Topic / Battlefield Vietnam Question
« on: 02-02-2011, 01:02:15 »
I'm thinking about getting Battlefield Vietnam but before I do, a question with the system requirements: Are the system requirements for this one the same as Battlefield 1942 or are they different?

My PC specs is:

GPU: 64.00MB (Internal)
RAM: 448.00mb
Processor: Intel Celeron CPU 1.6Ghz

I know, my desktop is ancient for today's standard.  ;)

Battlefield 1942 runs at around 20-22FPS on my PC. So if BV works will the frame rate drop or remain the same?

S.T.A.L.K.E.R has been on my wishlist for quite some time now....It just looks creepy and interesting.

Ah, no matter what Allied Assault is the best MOH game developed IMO. I will take no notice of the betas though, since they are only betas. But if the quirks in the demo are found in the full game, I think EA has killed the MOH franchise.

Pffft, welcome to the 21st Century, development on FH1 has ceased completely. All you can get is fan maps from Pixel Fighter.

Apologies, I live in 2010  :)

Yes, and my PC lives in the Stone Age. I can barely do anything online with my PC, heck everytime I exit FH a message pops up that I'm nearly out of virtual memory.

Sigh, a toast to budget computers and Forgotten Hope 0.7.

Damn you Fuchs...:D I'm now uninstalling Forgotten Hope on my PC.

General Discussion / Anyone made the following maps for FH1?
« on: 06-10-2010, 10:10:00 »
While Forgotten Hope has a large amount of maps, and while I understand the dev team may not have the time to cover all major battles, I was wondering whether other map developers have made the following:

*Sicily (And other Italian Maps)
*Omaha Beach (Original BF1942 map was not converted)
*Okinawa
*Operation Torch
*D-Day (Using Allied Airborne Units)
*Siegfried Line
*Corregidor or other Philippine maps
