I'm surprised they still haven't fixed it. Oh well, right now we can only dream of the day when net security improves to the point that anonymous banditry like this cannot go unpunished. What we need is not only a foolproof way to prevent stuff like that, but a good, solid dose of scorched-earth negative reinforcement, to make sure people learn to stop trying it. Like a way to make a foolproof identification of the hax0r and then a way to destroy every bit of his computing hardware and software. What a warm fantasy to lull oneself to sleep with: to imagine some Russian cyberterrorist not only getting thwarted when trying to spam-bomb or hijack 400-million computers, but for every bit of hardware he controls to suddenly fry, along with all his programs and data. Oooooh, that makes me all warm and tingly to think about it.
