Today, on November 9th, 1938, Ernst von Rath died from the gunshot wounds inflicted on him by Jewish Resistance Fighter Herschel Grynszpan.  His assassination was used as an excuse to start Kristallnacht, or Night of Broken Glass, where Jews were attacked, synagogues were destroyed, homes were burned, businesses were looted, and people were killed.

Wasn't that in the year I was born? Or is it even worse now because I can legally drive a car?

Well, yeah, what do you expect, people to actually remember all these things? Or use like a book to find things out?

Go back to the year 2000 my friend.

Here is one:
November 10, 1918 – The Western Union Cable Office in North Sydney, Nova Scotia receives a top-secret coded message from Europe (that would be sent to Ottawa, Ontario and Washington, DC) that said on November 11, 1918 all fighting would cease on land, sea and in the air.

10th November 1945 the day of the battle of Surabaya, when British forces attacked the city and retake much part of it. Later after fighting ferociously for 3 weeks, they found out that their opposing force were not just a "gang of collaborators", the British then supported their independence.

Today it is remembered as "heroes day", akin to veteran's day in British Commonwealths.
