How to remove the film grain effect
« on: 08-04-2015, 01:04:08 »
Hello I remembered that I made an account on here eight years ago after I started playing this mod two weeks ago, after seven years. Anyway the question I'm asking is it possible to remove the film grain effect because I find it annoying and it hurts my eyes. I don't want to remove any of the other nice effects in the mod just the film grain because it removes the realism from the mod. I'd also like to the say the mod has come a long way since 2008 great work!

In my experiences, set the video settings\terrain settings to "medium" - this should remove it. :)

But doesn't that reduce the graphical settings? Do you mean right in the video options or in the cfg file?

Is that the only way to remove it? Because I find it makes the textures look bad.

Only turn the "terrain" to medium, I don't know how it works but it removes the film grain.

Hmm... maybe I'll have to leave it on since the desert levels don't look very good without the film grain effect.

I found a way to make the film grain effect less aggressive by going in to the fh2 settings and changing the

rem renderer.tvgranularity from 3.5 to 5.5 it reduces the effect but still keeps it in the game without having to disable any of the effects. Give it a try I find it makes the game much easier on the eyes.

I'm glad I was able to help somebody with the film grain effects without having to remove them.
