Title says it almost all. All other antiviri (and AVG in all the previous scans over the years) considered the server files of 26 levels (mostly regular FH2, three or so tournament) clear. I presume the issue to be false alarm, but the magnitude of some backdoors made me worried in any case.

All help and advice sincerely appreciated.

Gaming / Hearts of Oak: Conquest of the Seas
« on: 12-04-2014, 11:04:35 »
Quote

The PiratesAhoy! Community, makers of the popular mods Pirates of the Caribbean: New Horizons and Age of Pirates 2: Gentlemen of Fortune, presents...

Hearts of Oak: Conquest of the Seas is a non-commercial PC game that is to become the historical seafaring game to end them all!
Fun, realistic gameplay on land and at sea, set during the Age of Sail, will provide extensive free play, exciting scripted storylines and intense multiplayer scenarios.
Our goal is to allow anyone interested in the era to be able to live their dream!

The gameplay will be similar in style to Akella's Storm Engine-based games that we are known for modifying, but we intend to take it further and offer more freedom, immersion and authenticity. The player will assume the role of a captain and have full command of their crew, being able to delegate tasks and give orders in the heat of battle. Dynamic hand-to-hand combat will make boarding enemy ships and capturing forts a fast paced, hectic experience. Whether you want to enlist in a navy, lead an honest merchant life, or resort to piracy, Hearts of Oak will offer many hours of gameplay.

Using the power of the CryEngine, and the knowledge and talent of our artists, the game will deliver stunning visuals worthy of tomorrow's PC hardware. You'll be able to explore a vast open world filled with highly detailed locations, ships and characters.

We are a team of volunteers, and due to the scale of this project, the game will take many months to develop. We will be releasing tech demos, alpha and beta versions over the coming months, but please be patient and have faith in our dev team. This is our dream game concept, and we are determined to make it a reality!
Help Wanted!

At this time, we are looking for more volunteers who could fulfil any of the following roles:

Programmer: Able to work with CryEngine to help us test and evaluate their suitability for the project.
GUI Developer: Prototypes user interfaces for the game, based on CryEngine.
3D Artist: Able to model various 3D assets for the game; the type of asset is up to the individual, and can include weapons, buildings, characters and ships. Guidance will be provided for historical references.
Musician: Creates original tracks for the game. A decent amount of experience is preferable.

If you're interested in joining our team, please visit our recruitment forum and introduce yourself: Piratesahoy.net
If you are unable to join our team, you can still help by spreading the word! If you know anyone with the skills we need, please do point them in our direction.

Off-Topic / Need opinions on some rockstar games
« on: 14-04-2011, 18:04:21 »
Hullo,
I was checking youtube and i found 2 interesting rockstar games:
-Red dead redemption- from the video looks quite awesome, but eh.. just for PS3 and xbox. Although heard, that maybe PC version might be in future. Any of you guys played it? It is worth getting?

-L.A. Noire- seems quite nice, like Mafia 2, but properly done and from the good side  :D, its said to be released primarily just for PS3, then for xbox.......

Seems like Rockstar ignores PC gamers,.. time to save money on RO2.

(btw, if this thread is too small it can be merged with some main gaming topic)

Modding / NML: Open fire! Help!
« on: 27-02-2011, 17:02:07 »
Hello and welcome back to another update of No Man’s Land. For today’s update, we have a new weapon ingame.

We already showed you the render of the MG 08/15, but not this beast ingame. The MG 08/15 was a German water-cooled light machine gun, introduced in April 1917. In total the MG 08/15 was the most common German machine gun deployed in WWI, with about 130 000 MG08/15 manufactured during WWI. There was also the MG08/15 air cooled version, but this was used in airplanes only.

On a second note: No Man's land minimod is very close to being done! We just need to finish some important things in order for it's release. Please, join us if you can either map, model or code, even help us with some work as a freelancer...

This is all for tonight’s news, we hope you can stay with us for the next update! And don’t forget to visit our main forums at www.nmlmod.forum-motion.com and our support websites, Forgotten Honor and Inside 1918!

Modding / No Man's Land: Field and Forest
« on: 30-12-2010, 16:12:34 »
Hello and welcome back to another update of No Man’s Land. For today’s update, we have a new weapon and map to show you.

First, we would like to thank our fans and the people who have been developing the mod. They have been giving for almost a year now, and an extra thank you to the Forgotten Hope 2 development team who are letting us make this minimod.
The development of No Man's land started on the 30th of December, 2009.

First up, one of the most known American weapons, the M1903 Springfield.
The M1903 Springfield-formally the United States Rifle, Caliber .30-06, Model 1903-is an American clip-fed, 5-shot, bolt-action service rifle used primarily during the first half of the 20th century.

It was officially adopted as into the United States military as a common bolt-action rifle on June 21, 1905, and saw service in World War I. It was officially replaced as the standard infantry rifle by the faster-firing, semi-automatic 8 round M1 Garand, starting in 1937. However, the M1903 Springfield remained in service as a standard-issue infantry rifle during World War II, since the U.S. entered the war without sufficient M1 rifles to arm all troops. It also remained in service as a sniper rifle during World War II, Korean War and even in the early stages of the Vietnam War. It remains popular as a civilian firearm, historical collector's piece and as a military drill rifle.

In No Man's land, this rifle will be the weapon of engineers and miners, while the main rifle will remain the M1917 Enfield. This weapon was modeled  by Arc.

Next, the map.

Battle of the Argonne Forest was a part of the final Allied offensive of World War I that stretched along the entire western front. The whole offensive was planned by Marshal Ferdinand Foch. The goal: to breach the Hindenburg line and ultimately force the opposing German forces to capitulate. The big September/October Allied breakthroughs across the length of the Hindenburg Line - including the Battle of the Argonne Forest - are now lumped together as part of what is generally remembered as the Grand Offensive by the Allies on the Western front. The Meuse-Argonne offensive also involved troops from France. While France, Britain and its dominion and imperial armies (mainly Canada, Australia and New Zealand), and Belgium contributed to major battles in other sectors across the whole front.

The French and British armies' ability to fight unbroken over the whole four years of the war in what amounted to a bloody stalemate is credited by some historians with breaking the spirit of the German Army on the Western Front. The Grand Offensive, including British, French and Belgian advances in the north along with the French-American advances around the Argonne forest, is in turn credited for leading directly to the Armistice on November 11.

On September 26, the Americans began their strike towards Sedan in the south; British and Belgian divisions drove towards Ghent (Belgium) on the 27th, and then British and French armies attacked across northern France on the 28th. The scale of the overall offensive, bolstered by the fresh and eager but largely untried and inexperienced U.S. troops, signaled renewed vigor among the Allies and sharply dimmed German hopes for victory.

For No Man's land, this map was created by Josh. Keep in mind the renders are still in WIP state.

This is all for tonight’s news, we hope you stay with us for the next update! And don’t forget to visit our main forums at www.nmlmod.forum-motion.com and our support websites, Forgotten Honor and Inside 1918!

Modding / No Man's Land: China again!

China again!

Hello and welcome to another update of No man´s land. Today's update will contain many interesting things, some of them you have already suggested.
First of all, welcome our new member, Archimonday. His work is very nice, as you can see below
Mauser C96 "Broomhandle".
The Mauser C96 (Construktion 96)  is a semi-automatic pistol that was originally produced by German arms manufacturer Mauser from 1896 to 1937 Unlicensed copies of the gun were also manufactured in Spain and China in the first half of the 20th century. Approximately 1 million C96 pistols were manufactured by Mauser alone, with the number produced in Spain and China being large but unknown due to the loss, non-existence, or poor upkeep of production records from those countries.

(the normal map is still WIP)

The Mauser C96 had superior range and better penetration than most other standard pistols; the 7.63x25mm Mauser  cartridge was the highest velocity commercially manufactured pistol cartridge in existence until the advent of the .357 Magnum cartridge in 1935. Besides the standard 7.63x25mm chambering, C96 pistols were also commonly chambered for 9mm Parabellum.

CHECK this video to see it ingame: www.youtube.com/watch?v=nc-ahyknwgY

As a military sidearm, the pistols saw service in various colonial wars, as well as World War I, The Estonian War of Independence, Russian Civil War , the Spanish Civil War, the Chinese Civil War, and World War II.

In No man’s land, C96 was created by Rataconfusca and codded by Archimonday

Second „weapon“ is quite known thing, but not very often used in wargames: Whistle!
The whistle has its roots dating back to ancient China, where night watchmen would blow into the tops of acorns to alert the towns to invading Mongolians In ancient Egypt two blades of the papyrus plant along the Nile river were held together in between the palms. By blowing into the palms the papyrus leaves would make a loud vibrant sound.

(US and Brittish)

Whistles were used in various military engagements in the 20th century. They were used primarily to initiate a pre-set plan so that all parts (within earshot) would move simultaneously. Officers in the first world war would sometimes blow whistles to signal all troops along a broad stretch of trench at the same time. It signalised time to die, that is go over the top and charge the other sides trenches.

(German)

Whistle was modeled  and codded by Archimonday, skinned by Ronisayswoot.

CHECK this video to see it ingame: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0VLkWRFdfHY

And BONUS, Check new animations of Gewehr 98 ingame, by Archimonday:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tF6NH0CBTvI

That's all for this week, but be sure to come back next time for another update. Until then, feel free to discuss HERE this update.

Suggestions / New german transport
« on: 01-07-2010, 13:07:16 »
Allo,
yes i know that it is all hard to make and code etc., but i would like to suggest some more german trucks. Allies have already Chewy, 2 Bedfords and GMC. Germans have just Blitz.

So:
Sdkfz 7

Krupp L2

Horch 108 or 901

AND I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO SUGGEST MOTORBIKES  ;)

Bug Reporting / 2 Sdkfz. 251 bugs.
« on: 25-06-2010, 13:06:10 »
Hi,
i would like to tell you 2 bugs.
Before, thanks for new fix in 2.26, when i am front gunner and press ctrl, now it is good.
But, when back gunner, there it is still weird. You can see like there are no doors. Sadly i havent screenshoted it.

Second, i noticed on Goodwood, as front gunner, when you press "change ammo" button (like in tanks), there shows vBF2 grenade (in right down of screen).

12
As I looked at FH2 website, I noted, that some weapons (which hasnt Normandy title) I never seen ingame. So i would ask on these,  if I just have bad memory, or they arent in public build yet.

5 cm KwK 38
20 cm Flak with Sd.Ah 51 trailer
Carro Armato L6/40 (I am not sure about Bardia, in F|H version it was there)

on May 5, 1945 (so 65 years ago) began Prague uprising, in the last moments of the war in Europe. The uprising went on until May 8, 1945, ending in a ceasefire the day before the arrival of the Red Army and one day after the Victory in Europe Day.
