Yep, that is indeed true. Aiming several cm (on my screen) higher that where target appears, doesn't make things easy at all. Wish we had adjustable sights....
^this

would be very awesome, but i doubt BF2 Engine supports it
-i am fairly sure that if they took porn off the internet, there would only be one website left and it would be called bring back the porn "Perry cox, Scrubs.

If you have Battlefield 3, go Recon and use rifles without the scopes. Ironsights are fun and good practice for close combat against SMGs!

If you're position is obviously unknown by the enemy, take your time. If a guy moves past, report his position. Never waste a round if you know he's gonna come back out giving you another chance.

Rifle nades are kinda like Panzerfausts. They both fire in an arc, and both have a decent blast radius. As well, both are used against infantry :/. Useful for combatting groups too far to use normal grenades, which are useful for getting the guy hiding behind that door over there.

If scoped, you don't have an excuse not to go ranged shooting. Then its a deer shoot. If you miss his nice ears will hear a whiz and flee. If you take your time, and if moving, aim ahead accordingly, it'll take a round and you'll get your venison/points.

One thing that I noticed that's missing here is hitting moving targets. Online this can vary a lot, because it's ping related. The bigger the ping the bigger the "lead" you'll have to take. One good technique is to "trap shoot", especially priceless for snipers and bolt action rifles in general. It consists of:

1 Spot enemy

2 Mentally calculate his movement "vector" to predict his path

3 Estimate range

4 Aim a good ammount(1/2"-1" on the screen, maybe more) ahead of it

5 Wait until it is right where i will be when the bullet get there(based on distance, speed of the target, and ping), then shoot.

It took me a good ammount of practice to do this correctly, but it's the best way I found to hit moving targets consistently. It's this or spray it with the laffete :P

Another very good practise is Red orchestra 1 and 2 with good old trusty bolt action rifles

owning a PPSH with K98 or MKB with mosin nagant on CLOSE range=The best feeling evar

For BF3 the SV98 is the best choise

Basically this.  Practice with bots.

They tend to move in straight lines without too much deviation, so it's great practice for range+movement.

Then unleash yourself on other players and see how you go.  Scoped rifles can be deceptive, but you get used to the different scopes after a while.
