Off-Topic / What has everyone been up too?
« on: 06-02-2019, 07:02:09 »
I'm totally drunk and I'm wondering what everyone (the FH oldbies) have been up to in these 5+ years since I've last played FH.. I'm curious as to how everyone else has been doing. Did Fuzzybunny ever come back? Is Lobo still in exile? Is Wolf still a thing?

Hopefully everyone is doing fine and still enjoying FH.

Next morning edit:
Remind me not to post on forums when I'm drunk.

Modding / FH2 Zombies beta release! (1-19-13)
« on: 20-01-2013, 01:01:30 »
After an extended development time, I finally decided to just release what was done as an open beta. It was taking so long that it was starting to stress me out.

Anyhow, this is a beta, so it's lacking a little bit of polish. There are a few minor cosmetic things that I need to change, such as team names and flag icons, but those don't directly affect gameplay so I'll figure out how to change them later. There might be a couple bugs, but I tried to get rid of most of them.

At the moment, I don't want this submitted to any mod news sites. It's a bit too rough for that.

Requirements:
BF2 fully patched
FH2 fully patched

Installation instructions, this is VERY important:

The folder "FH2Zombies" goes into the EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods folder, obviously.

In order to launch the mod, you MUST configure and use the provided shortcut.

Right click the shortcut, and go to properties. Make sure the target location points to your FH2.exe, NOT THE BF2.exe.

Here is what my shortcut looks like. You absolutely must have the +modpath line at the end.

"C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\FH2.exe" +modPath mods/fh2zombies

Once this is done, you can apply the provided FH2Z icon image to the shortcut if you want. Just click the change icon button, and navigate into the FH2 Zombies mod folder and it should show up.

Please read the readme for other important information, such as co-op settings.

Just as a heads up, due to certain problems I had, the default player team is always the zombie side. Just switch to the survivor side and everything will be fine.

It has been a while, and I completely forgot if I included anyone elses content in the mod. I'm pretty sure I made all the textures in this version myself, but if you spot something that you definitely made, let me know and I'll credit you. I also kind of.. forgot to credit myself. lol.

Things I'm aware of:
Zombie and Survivor teams are currently "America and Germany" respectively. Needs renaming.
Flag icons are American and German, instead of survivor and zombie. (I need to find out why I cant save the flag icon dds.)
There might be a crash on Eppeldorf if you play with survivor bots. But it seems to work fine with just zombies. This is probably due to the push mode.

If you find any bugs, let me know.

Things I have planned:
Convert all of the maps.
Add additional "fun" things to the maps. Right now quite a few have a stock selection.
Bring back the old sprinting system. No more infinite sprint.
Make zombies walk faster. (possibly)
Find out why I can't save my custom flag icons.
Rename sides.
More polish all around.

If there are any major bugs, I will fix them as soon as possible and release a patch.

Multiplayer:
Me and Havocide were planning on renting an actual server for this, but there were money problems.

For now, I highly recommend using tunngle (http://www.tunngle.net/). It's far more stable than hamachi. Just set up a "local" server and you and your friends can start playing.

The old thread has even more buried in it.

Hopefully everything works right and you guys enjoy what's done so far! There may not be as much unique equipment as I had wanted, but there's still plenty of zombies to bully! And they seem a bit smarter in this version too.

By the way, there's only one easter egg in this version. It's a vehicle. Depending on how much you like Japanese stuff, you may be shocked or delighted. ;)

Bug Reporting / Player shadow visible through wall.
« on: 18-08-2012, 07:08:21 »
This happened on Brest. I could see the shadow of an allied soldier through the wall.

I'm positive that this is caused by the transparency of the ivy growing on the side of the building. I showed it to multiple people, so this isn't simply a problem on my end.

I suggest either moving or reshaping the ivy. This bug has to be fixed because without it I would not have known that somebody was up there.

Off-Topic / P-51 crash at Reno air race.
« on: 17-09-2011, 03:09:35 »
http://www.suntimes.com/news/nation/7702846-418/official-more-than-75-injured-after-plane-crashes-at-reno-air-race.html

A P-51 configured for air racing crashed today right into the crowd, destroying the plane and killing at least 10 people the last I heard.

Video of the incident:

Some sources are saying that the P-51 in question was "The Galloping Ghost".

This is an interesting animated Russian anti-war film about a new tank that can read minds and react to thoughts, with a twist at the end.

It has a unique realistic art-style that I've never seen before, and I highly recommend watching it.

A sad day.

"Seven crew members and volunteers walked away without serious injury after a World War II "Flying Fortress" bomber crashed and burned in a cornfield southeast of Aurora Municipal Airport on Monday, June 13, officials say. The B-17, christened the "Liberty Belle," took off from the airport at 9:30 a.m. and made an emergency landing in a cornfield near Highway 71 and Minkler Road in Oswego after the pilot reported an engine fire, according to Sugar Grove Fire Chief Marty Kunkle. A real shame. Billy Mays was one of the few celebrities that I actually liked. :-\

This video would be great as a training video for the upcoming Normandy patch. ;)

On a side note I really like that AP garand ammo. It would be neat if certain special (aka not common) infantry classes got 1 clip of AP ammo. This could be easily done by adding "two" garands to the special kit, one with normal ammo and one with a very limited amount of AP ammo.

It would be pretty useful for taking out rampaging kubels and such but obviously not tanks.
