Bot Stuff
« on: 08-11-2017, 18:11:44 »
I have been trying out a lot of the new Singleplayer maps that I have downloaded and because of that, I play them on Co-Op which allows me to adjust the settings.

But I was wondering if there could be a way to:

A) Adjust the size so the Allied Forces have only a small amount of bots while the Axis has the most possible
(Example:  Ramelle Neuville - 10 US soldiers +60 German soldiers, an actual "Saving Private Ryans")

B) If there are few bots on one side how to make them all join one fireteam instead of being randomly spread apart(Example: A full team of Bravo/Baker and a full team of Delta.

C) Also,I want to know why the Bots refuse to listen to a "Follow" command or a "Wait" command but they will listen to a "Get In/Get Out" command.

See http://fhpubforum.warumdarum.de/index.php?topic=21065.0

They distribute between squads. Only way to fill some of them is to increase numbers of bots.

The "Follow me" command. Always a bit of a mystery. They're just always on the edge of insubordination, although sometimes reissuing and order will change that. They are really only good for spawning around you when trying to capture a CP. Hang around somewhere around the edge and keep sending them in !

Is there an easy way to convert FH2 conquest maps to singleplayer?

Absolutely not, and that's a main reason not all maps have bot support. It's a pain in the ass to make singleplayer maps for BF2.

But it can be done. I've been looking at some of the CMP Pacific maps for conversion to SP. Dnamro at Battlefieldsingleplayer.com now has a script for production of the navmesh. Still requires manual editing in many circumstances but its possible.

If there's enough interest then someone might. I posted a request for bot support here.

I've coded all of the CMP vehicles & handweapons for AI. A few things were already coded such as the Heinkel He-111 but needed some tweaking. Once I get the Navmesh software operating correctly then I will start navmeshing some of the CMP maps too. Although not all of them will be suitable for bot support for several reasons such as having too many bridges, ships, flags separated by water, and obstacles. Though I will try my best on them, some will certainly require a bit of modification as well.

That sounds really nice. Sadly I can't be of any help but I'm rooting for you. It would be great to have some of these maps for co-op play.

Yeah, sounds great ! How long does navmeshing take ? One thing that puts me off getting into that is that it can take days ? I can't tie up my main system and my other system is Linux.

I'm working on them. It'll take some time, and not all of them will be made SP/Coop as some of the maps simply won't work with bots but I am experimenting with all of them.

Alright, sounds good. Thanks for working on them! :)
