Title: A guide to installing Forgotten Hope 2
Post by: :| Hi on 26-12-2009, 20:12:34
-------------------------------------------------
Forgotten Hope 2 install guide
-------------------------------------------------

1. First of all your going to need to install Battlefield 2 with:
-Retail version (https://www.google.com/#q=battlefield+2&tbm=shop)

2. After installing the retail version of Battlefield 2 on your computer, be sure to patch the game with the according patches:
-1.41 (http://www.fileplanet.com/160777/160000/fileinfo/Battlefield-2-Patch-v1.41) & then 1.50 (http://www.moddb.com/games/battlefield-2/downloads/battlefield-2-v15-patch)

3. Now you should be ready to download Forgotten Hope 2! The latest version can be found at:
http://forgottenhope.warumdarum.de/fh2_downloads.php?

The recommended download for the mod is the official "FH2 Launcher"; this neat installer allows you to download everything you need and automatically updates or patches the mod if a new public version is available.

4. Once you installed the FH2 Launcher, go through the steps, and make sure to install the files on their default installer path.

5. Now that you've installed the files, you should be able to play Forgotten Hope 2! Enjoy!

If you have any questions or issues you have, please head over to the help/support (http://fhpubforum.warumdarum.de/index.php?board=18.0) and post.

LINUX USERS
(Thank you to Frnz.nl for this guide)

A short note for those interested in playing FH2 on linux (probably  0.01% of the forum visitors ).

I've managed to get FH2 working for online play without getting kicked by Punkbuster. Something I tried before many moons ago but couldn't succeed in.

Using the newer versions of wine (http://www.winehq.org/) it's actually pretty easy, here are the steps I took:

- Get everything you would need for a Windows install (BF2, patches, FH2)

- Get the newest version of wine (http://www.winehq.org/)

- Mount the CD, open a console and navigate to the CD

- Start the setup program

Code:..$ wine setup.exe  You should be able to just run the windows installer and install BF2

- Install the patches and FH2 installer likewise using the 'wine' command in console

You should be able to run FH2 now.

Doing this I was able to play, during online play I got problems with Punkbuster though. Here is a work around which works for me:

- Get the 'pbsvc.exe' executable from http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=pbsvcfaq.php and save it inside the 'Battlefield 2/pb' folder. (By default the BF2 folder is '~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/EA GAMES/Battlefield 2/pb' (~ is your home dir))

- Use wine to execute it and reinstall Punkbuster using the pbsvc.exe, some test should run with result that everything went fine

- Run FH2

Note: I used Ubuntu 10.10 and wine 1.2.2.

Be aware that graphic and sound quality isn't anywhere near that of its windows counterpart. I had to use a resolution of 800x600 and the lowest settings to be able to play. When I used Vista on this machine I had settings set on High, 2xAA and a higher resolution.

Sounds are awefull too..

..But hey, it works

(screenshot I took from playing online a couple of mins ago: http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk111/frnznl/FH2/Fh2Ubuntu.png )

Hi, I was wondering if you could help me out. I don't have the disc version, but I don't have the steam version either. I have a version I downloaded off of the EA website. Will this work? Also, I tried installing Forgotten Hope 2 yesterday, everything went finr until I got to the multiplayer. Every time I tried to log on to a server, it told me I didn't have the map that was running. I did manage to make it to a lading screen on one servern but when it loaded all the way I CTD'd. So after that I decided to uninstall and look for help...looks like I found some  :)

You downloaded it off the EA site and its a full version?

Yes, but I'm not sure if I have the patches. I can play online with it...
Title: Re: A guide to installing Forgotten Hope 2
Post by: Desertfox on 06-01-2010, 22:01:13
Yes
Did you try to join the dev server? that's maybe why it said you didn't have the map. Also, what version of FH2 did you download, the version should be 2.2. Additionally, seeing your system spec could be useful

Post by: zzman305 on 06-01-2010, 22:01:13
I tried multiple servers, all of which gave me the same message. And yes, it was 2.2

Did you install punkbuster?
Title: Re: A guide to installing Forgotten Hope 2
Post by: zzman305 on 06-01-2010, 22:01:41
Yes I have punkbuster. Oh and if it helps in anyway, I've been playing Project Reality for about a year now. It used to CTD on me all the time because I had a downloaded version of BF2, but then I started using a mirrored version of the game and it has been fine ever since. Could that be the problem?

Okay, now I've got another problem. Last night I uninstalled FH2, or at least I thought I did. The shortcuts and the game are still there and working. I keep trying to uninstall it but nothings working.
Title: Re: A guide to installing Forgotten Hope 2
Post by: Desertfox on 06-01-2010, 23:01:02
If it won't uninstall, delete the fh2 file in you BF2 directory, and delete the icons
Title: Re: A guide to installing Forgotten Hope 2
Post by: zzman305 on 06-01-2010, 23:01:25
Okay, I decided to to do a system restore to the day before I installed. That got rid off it.

Look, I'm gonna pass on this till I get a copy of BF2 on CD. Then I plan to unistall the downloaded version. Install and CD version and go through the process above. That should work right?

You problem is that you have the EA Download version of BF2.  You need to get the BF2.exe off the DVD.  Search these forums for it.

You could also try searching the forums for problems related to the Direct Download version of BF2.  There are a couple different fixes, one of which is downloading the DVD version of the .exe, the other deals with adding certain folders into your BF2 directory.

It seems like the FH2.25 release will be a 2.2-2.25 patch, so you probably need to get 2.2 working correctly before Friday, when all the servers will be switching to 2.25.

(This is a particularly big patch! So you may want to bring along a book to read, perhaps The Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy? You'll need something to entertain you and if you get hungry you can always go to the Restraunt at the End of the Universe or listen to a concert by Jetblack Deviato but I digress.

The link you supply to download BF2 patch 1.5.  Where does that come from?  The latest official EA BF2 patch appears to be 1.41, found http://largedownloads.ea.com/pub/patches/BF2/ (http://largedownloads.ea.com/pub/patches/BF2/).

Hey, Dick (I assume I can call you by your first name, Dick).  If I go to the official EA BF2 site, and the latest update they list is 1.41, that would lead one to believe that the latest update is 1.41.  Instead of being a dick, Dick, perhaps you could have just said "Yeah, they haven't updated their web page.  Silly of them wasn't it?"

Instead, you had to be a dick.  Is that what I can expect around here?

The latest patch is indeed 1.5, EA most likely has not updated the page due to the game being several years old

Installed 1.5, downloaded and attempted to install fh, and I get a patch verification error that reads:

Patch Verification failed: the root directory doesn't exist.

From the details:
Failing with 'The root directory doesn't exit' because: !wsFileName::DirExists(this->root)

I'm running Windows Vista, if that makes any difference.

Edit: May have downloaded the 32 bit version instead of the 64 bit version.  Checking that...

Edit 2: Trying the Bit-Torrent link, they don't specify 32 bit vs 64 bit, so should I be using a different 2.25 download source?

Edit 3:  Ah! Read the Instructions.  I need to download and install FH 2.2 first.

No, any site with part 1 or part 2 will be the same as the files are all the same.

Ex: 1 moddb
2 random site in swahili

both will still work and there will be no difference

For those of you that have clicked this thread's title, yes! There is a guide to installing Forgotten Hope 2 so that you don't mess anything up!

1. First of all your going to need to install Battlefield 2, the CD version.  Steams downloadable version of Battlefield 2 is not compatible with mods so if you have done that, ask for help there may be a solution.

2. After installing battlefield 2 on your computer, be sure to patch the game to 1.41. http://www.filefront.com/6194285/Battlefield-2-v1.41-Patch/ (http://www.filefront.com/6194285/Battlefield-2-v1.41-Patch/) If this link does not work, please google "Battlefield 2 1.41 patch" and you should get a few sites with links to download it.

3. Now that you've installed patch 1.41, you need to download patch 1.50. Among correcting some bugs this patch allows you to play the game without needing your Battlefield 2 CD!  http://www.filefront.com/14444947/Battlefield-2-Patch-v1.5/ (http://www.filefront.com/14444947/Battlefield-2-Patch-v1.5/)  (This is a particularly big patch! So you may want to bring along a book to read, perhaps The Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy? You'll need something to entertain you and if you get hungry you can always go to the Restraunt at the End of the Universe or listen to a concert by Jetblack Deviato but I digress.

4. Now that you've survived your tour of the universe you get to download Forgotten Hope 2, 2.26! The downloads for 2.26 can be found at http://forgottenhope.warumdarum.de/main.php?module=downloads (http://forgottenhope.warumdarum.de/main.php?module=downloads). The files are available in both torrent and an .exe file. If you have a limited internet connection, the files can be downloaded in 2 parts, but if you have time and nothing to do, you can download the full file.

4b. If you have 2.25, you can download the incremental patch to 2.26.

5a. For some of these files you download, you made need rarlab! rarlab can be downloaded at www.rarlab.com. Keep in mind that you need to download the version appropriate to your system! I.e. download the 64bit for 64bit computers and 32bit for 32bit computers. If you do not know what your computer bit is, you can google how to find out!

5b. Now that 2.26 has been downloaded, you'll need to install the files. If you downloaded the torrent, you'll need the password to install the files. The password for 2.26 is 8xx8>\<enjoy>/<8xx8 . Copy and paste should work.

5c. If you downloaded the .exe, you should not need the password, however if you do need a password 8xx8>\<enjoy>/<8xx8 is the password.

6.Install the files on their DEFAULT installer path!

7. Now that you've installed the files, you should be able to play Forgotten Hope 2! Enjoy!
Uhmmm.... iw want to play Por-en-bessin but i don't see it when i sart up the game and frther more i can't play online because it says Invalid cd-key and i bought the real version.

Port-en-Bessin doesn't have bot support yet, although you can create a LAN game and play it.
Did you enter your CD key exactly as it says?

This could be the result of a damaged disk, a failed download or a virus.

What do I do to get this to work?
I tried running it as administrator and without.

Title: Re: A guide to installing Forgotten Hope 2
Post by: MishaPilsudski on 14-07-2010, 20:07:10
I redownloaded it using the download manager.

When extraction of the file was complete for both .rar files I got these error messages :

CRC failed in 'Forgotten Hope 2.26 (1 0f 2).exe'. File is broken.
CRC failed in 'Forgotten Hope 2.26 (2 of 2).exe'. File is broken.

And when I opened the .exe files, The setup initialization reaches 100% then I get the NSIS Error message.

Is there any other way to get this to work?

Title: Re: A guide to installing Forgotten Hope 2
Post by: MishaPilsudski on 18-07-2010, 21:07:31
Well, when FH2 installed perfectly I was like, sweet, but then my BF2.exe file wasn't working, and when I reinstalled it, it fixed the problem, but now that my BF2.exe is working, FH2 won't extract properly? So I was fed up with downloading new copy's so I just scrapped it. I may try downloading the file on a different computer though, because I think I know what's making the files corrupt.

Try downloading it with a download manager such as:

http://www.flashget.com/en/download.htm

Then download the torrent.
Then double click on the torrent, it should open in Flash Get.
Set the download location of the torrent to your desktop, so your computer doesn't give you any bullshit like it can't modify a folder.
And finally change the name of the torrent title to something other than the default name, such as "FH2Full" without the quotations.

If that doesn't work, you can also try downloading V2.25, then downloading the incremental patch.
Hope this helps!

Title: Re: A guide to installing Forgotten Hope 2
Post by: MishaPilsudski on 19-07-2010, 16:07:12
Did it work for you? Because I downloaded it on another computer in my house with Flash Get, and it worked perfectly.

I figured out that I can't download any big files on my computer because there's something wrong with it and it says "Windows Explorer (Not Internet Explorer) stopped working" then it says "Windows Explorer is now restarting" and when it restarts, it refreshes all my folders and desktop icons, which in turn, corrupts the file because for that split second the file is still downloading, but it has nowhere to download to. So, there is a missing part to a bunch of files because it happens quite often. (I run windows 7 Home Premium)

I have run out of bandwidth for the moment so I will try again next week with a new download (fingers crossed). I tried doing an unrar with ignore errors enable and was able to start the patching process but it died after a short period. Hanging to play FH2 I only played the initial release and played a lot of FH1 and have to say it is without a doubt the best WW2 game I have ever played so well and truly happy to be patient and get it going. Are there many Australians involved in the FH2 community or is it predominantly German? Better brush up on my 'Deutsch Sprechen' for teamspeak fun!

I cannot believe that a bitorrent off the main webpage is corrupt after download as well as the files from Ausgamers, Gamearena and internode games (3 biggest game files locations in Australia).

I tried downloading to a freshly formatted D: drive and got the CRC error, I also defragged and scanned my C: drive then tried a fresh download and same problem. I am running Windows 7 home premium, pretty new installation and have been running BFBC 2 no problem as well as COD MW & MW2.......In short

Perhaps you're getting too much packet loss with your internet connection, but that should be prevented by downloading it with the torrent. What program are you using for your torrents? I tend to use abc-torrent (http://pingpong-abc.sourceforge.net/), but utorrent (http://www.utorrent.com/) is good as well.

Hey guys thanks for your responses, I think it has something to do with my disk drive and will require a fresh install. I contacted Windows as the problem is now with any large archived file that I download. I will download on my mac and transfer via DVD and install that way. Windows said it could be a minor fault in RAM or a minor HDD error and is not related to my connection but to my hardware. Cheers for all your help though guys, helped me isolate what has been going wrong. Hopefully I will be able to get my noob soldier 'Budovski' into some fierce combat tonight!

Hey all just so you guys know. The problem I had with the CRC error on unzipping the patch files was all to do with a faulty RAM chip, game installed a breeze and works fine. The RAM was not altering any game except BF2  so I didn't automatically think of it. So if you get repeated CRC errors., 90% it will be your RAM

Cheers

Yep. ^^ The exe looks for your BF2 registry entries and installs it to the correct folder by itself.

Hows it going.

I have one of the older versions of forgotten hope 2(pre France when it was all about the desert) and I am having trouble installing it. I dled the 2 part bit torrent version and I extracted the rar files. I get an error saying the crc failed in encrypted file .... wrong password. I have tried it without password and with the one on the site  (8xx8>\<enjoy>/<8xx8). Besides that it seems to extract them alright. However when I click on either extracted file instead of it running I just get a black box that appears for a few seconds and dissappears.

That password is for the latest version (2.26).

Passwords for previous versions are:

FH 2.26: 8xx8>\<enjoy>/<8xx8
FH 2.25: <->patch.TO-2.25<->
FH 2.2: h.-A.-u.-N.-e.-b.-U.-3
FH 2.15: >>important-=-read-=-the-ReAdMe<<

FH 2.0: #=->FH2-TorrentPass<-=#

Hi folks!
I'm trying to give a mate the FH2 install files. I only have up to 2.25 as I have 2.26 installed from all the Beta testing patches. Ooops (just found 2.25-2.26 incremental)  ;D

Ok I have this file    fh2patch2_25(2)

Right, ^^^^^^ as there's a (2) behind the 2_25 patch I take it there is a fh2patch2_25(1) ?

If there is I can't bloody find it on my PC and I doubt that I would have deleted it  >:(

So is fh2patch2_25(2) a standalone patch?    ( It's 840 MB )

Am I right in thinking all I would need to be up  to date is

fh2patch2_25(2)  &  Forgotten_Hope_2_Patch_2.25_to_2.26   ???

Help!  :)

Oh good god I've been trying to finaly reinstall FH2. I got Win7 some time ago and f0cked up by installing FH2 over 1.41 instead of 1.5. But that's only where the fun started. As of yesterday I've finaly found the courage to go and reinstall the whole stuff but down from and including the deleting of BF2 I haven't had a single setup without some sort of error.

Now, three attemps to properly install BF2 later I had fi-na-ly made it to installing 2.26 but guess what, it error'd. It says some kind of error involving the installment of the vehicles files if I remember correct. I'm way too tired to go on about this by myself for the time being so what's the deal with that? I downloaded the FH2 files onto my HDD a long time ago and they worked properly before. Could they have been corrupted over time and should I just download them again?

To make matters worse my antivirus (COMODO) keeps complaining and blocking and buggering the installs and I think that may be screwing things up here. But as of now I'm only one small step away from committing suicide so please don't mind my lazyness asking you guys for help without searching.  :-\

I would definitely point at the antivirus acting things up for you. Switch it of prior to installing, i recon FH2's installer and BF2 1.5 are quite secure and don't need any watching. ;)

Other than that, always run the install files as an Admin in Win7 and switch off the user access control, it tends to act up with BF's installer.

problem number 5  which will point you to problem number 2
although, it doesnt fit your description but the solution should work.
try this and report back if you still have problems.

I executed all solutions up to number 4 and report no improvement.

I will try re-installing everything and report back with results.

I believe to have found the problem; Patch 1.5 on first instalation attempt have fouled me, into thinking that my game is allready patched, with a message stating exactly that. When in truth, instalation was unable to continue becoue I did not have path 1.41 installed.

Now after reinstalling BF2, installing patch 1.41 I was able to install patch 1.5

I will now attempt to instal FH2.3 and see if it was the only reason for this malfunction.

It turns out to be it, lack of patched up game.
Capt. Miller, hope it's usefull to you :)

if you have a retail (a version with a physical CD/DVD) then it should install itself in the correct folder. no need for any input from your end.

if in doubt it should install simply the BF2/mods folder

My friend tried to install FH2.3 and it says he needs a patch greater than 1.5?  He said he installed forgotten hope first (he thought FH2.3 was a stand alone game) then reinstalled after he installed BF2. Is there another patch that needs to be installed for FH2.3 to work? BF2 works fine by itself.

As far as I know, the order of install is BF2, 1.41 patch, 1.5 patch, FH2 2.3.  ;)

Hope that helps.

By using EADM, BF2 will be installed easily and with all the latest patches.
At least i think it does so, cos i downloaded and installed it thru EADM and after installing FH2, it worked like a charm.

A short note for those interested in playing FH2 on linux (probably  0.01% of the forum visitors ;)).

I've managed to get FH2 working for online play without getting kicked by Punkbuster. Something I tried before many moons ago but couldn't succeed in.

Using the newer versions of wine (http://www.winehq.org/ (http://www.winehq.org/)) it's actually pretty easy, here are the steps I took:

- Get everything you would need for a Windows install (BF2, patches, FH2)

- Get the newest version of wine (http://www.winehq.org/ (http://www.winehq.org/))

- Mount the CD, open a console and navigate to the CD

- Start the setup program
Code: [Select]
..$ wine setup.exe  You should be able to just run the windows installer and install BF2

- Install the patches and FH2 installer likewise using the 'wine' command in console

You should be able to run FH2 now.

Doing this I was able to play, during online play I got problems with Punkbuster though. Here is a work around which works for me:

- Get the 'pbsvc.exe' executable from http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=pbsvcfaq.php (http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=pbsvcfaq.php) and save it inside the 'Battlefield 2/pb' folder.

Sounds are awefull too..

..But hey, it works ;)

(screenshot I took from playing online a couple of mins ago: http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk111/frnznl/FH2/Fh2Ubuntu.png (http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk111/frnznl/FH2/Fh2Ubuntu.png)

Are they in folders, a .zip, or .exe?

If its a .exe, you only need to double click the icon to install it, starting with the first install file.

If it is in a .zip file, you will need winrar (or another .zip opening application of your choice), a link to WinRar can be found in the first post of the thread

Post by: :| Hi on 27-03-2011, 19:03:33
Double click the winrar icon for the first part of the download, inside, should be a .exe file. Double click it and just say yes to everything that pops up. That will install the first part.

Repeat for the second installation and FH2 should be installed.

Once FH2 is installed, run the FH2 icon as Administrator and you'll be set to go

Another problem ive installed now with desura and when i click launch the screen stays black and if i pull up control panel it says there is an error running along with fh2. I cant click on the error so i dont know what it says. it did this when i installed this from the fh2 website links all three parts and ive tried many different times. Any ideas on why this is happening?

You can see the error screen when you run FH2/BF2 in windowed mode. To do this just add "+fullscreen 0" to the link-properties on your desktop (accessible via right-click on the icon).

Did the installation work without any problems and are you sure that your BF2 is on version 1.5?

I am attempting my second install, as I just did some hardware upgrades.  My first install worked pretty well, but I had a bug I am not sure is common at all.  My player would randomly yell out "hold your fire", "hop in", "DEUTCHLAND!", or whatever over and over.  Sometimes it would happen all the time, others it would happen almost never.  Has anyone heard of this, or know of a fix?

Secondly, I was curious about installing BF2 on a partition seperate from you O/S.  I have read this is a good thing to do to help the game run better.  I am running a 120gb SSD as my primary drive with W7 64.  I do not mind putting BF2, and FH2 on this drive, as I have the space for it.  If it will run ok, or better, I can put BF2 and/or FH2 on a slave 74gb HDD.  I also have some 'User' folders moved to the HDD to limit the amount of writes to the SSD.  Anyone know what the best setup will be?  Primarily, which drive should I install BF2 on ( "C drive=SSD, E drive=HDD ) which drive should I install FH2 on, and do I need to do anything with my BF2 "My Games" folder or any other "User" related folders?  I read somewhere on these forums about moving, or deleting a couple BF2 "User" folders to help with install.

Well, since I got no replies, I will add what I've found in case anyone else is looking.

I went with the advise in this (or another, can't recall) install guide's advise to install BF2/FH2 on a totally different partition than my O/S.  In my case O/S (C:drive=SSD) and data (D:drive=HDD)  I did not even create any 'dummy' or 'place-holder' type folders, ei ,EAgames, Users, or program files (x86) even.  They were all created for me during install.  Everything seems to be running fine, though PB is kicking me.  I think (hope) this is just needing to be updated.  Great guide, thanks!  Maybe during next revision, you should add some info about updating punkbuster.  I know there are threads that cover it, but since this is a nice comprehensive guide, it would be good to add.

*edit-It was in fact from Lightning's "common problems and solutions" thread that I was advised to setup this way.

Title: Re: A guide to installing Forgotten Hope 2

We release the install files password protected a few days before the official release, so you can already download them earlier and then just extract them when the password gets released and play instantly.
After release we allow servers to setup the files without password for users to download.

So since Desura supports no passworded pre-loading, we have to wait until the password has been released before we can upload the files there..

And you should have Eppeldorf, that is a 2.4 map.

Hi guys, I'll paste the same help request posted on Moddb

"Hi guys, pls help me!!!

I downlaoded the 2.45 update as a torrent and tried to install it without success...
The first part kept stucking at half percentage... but after about 10 times it installed... the second part won't work.... It stucks at 7% with "7zip data error" followed by "Not specific error".... I thought it could be a bugged download.. so I downloaded the second part from Moddb... same error... from warumdarum.de... again... and from the other hosts too...it keeps telling me that there are corrupted parts (I think 12, 13 and 14... but sometimes it tells me that the corrupted parts are from part 8 to 17..)

FH2 Part 2 of 2 is driving me crazy

P.S.: I used winrar and even 7zip

Please help me, thanks guys"

Just finished to download the full torrent via Flashgot....

1) first of all no one password request pops up
2) at the beginning of the extraction the boring error of winrar "CRC error.. file is corrupt.. bla bla bla..."
3) it installed without error.. this time... I tried to launch it and it seems to work.... but is that normal???

Ah sorry, thanks for the suggestion DLFReporter

Also I'm installing FH2 v2.45 now and had to install the BF2 patches as well of course. However, the link to FileFront for BF2 Patch v1.5 only downloads a 98Kb file for me... So I've downloaded this one on FilePlanet instead, which does indeed download up to 1.97Gb :)

Hehe awesome, also I found something funny (it only happens to odd guys like me though)

So I extract both *.exe files:
Forgotten_Hope_2.45_1_of_2
Forgotten_Hope_2.45_2_of_2

Seems like there won't be a problem right? Well unlike other people, I tend to do things in a different way and as a result I extracted both *.exe into one folder for neatness purposes. I didn't expect some files having similar names apart from the setup.exe.

I installed FH2 and it did run, but I was left looking at an ingame map list that was completely empty, not being able to start or connect to servers. So after checking if the maps are in there, which they were (probably not all of them as I counted about 10 maps). But there were probably some other important files missing as well... Anyway I was stumped, until I found this thread (Don't have current map pack (http://fhpubforum.warumdarum.de/index.php?topic=17657.msg262575#msg262575)), which kinda rang a bell...

So after extracting the two separate files into two separate folders like some kind of crazy person ;D It installed correctly and I can now run and join servers. Just thought I'd post it here as there are probably more oddball creatures out there like me!

"V" and "B" buttons are for ingame VOIP, mumble has it's own controls layout (they are listed on FH2 Mumble download page afaik) but unfortunately very few people use Mumble because it's unofficial now. Hopefully we will get Mumble installer merged with FH2 installer and more people will use it someday.

When BF2 is patched up to 1.5, you can also download and install the FH2Launcher: http://forgottenhope.warumdarum.de/download/FH2Launcher-Setup.exe

Quote
FH2 Launcher

Our new FH2 Launcher is now the regular way to install, update and play Forgotten Hope 2. Simply install the FH2 Launcher into your Battlefield 2 folder. It will start the installation or update your existing build to the latest version.

Much easier, and usually faster than the 2 part download.

Hi guys, I've been playing Heroes and Generals for the last six months or so . . . which has really gotten me to miss the stellar gameplay of FH2 (way better than H&G, IMO).

I dug up my ancient BF2 CD and somehow was able to install it despite the disk looking like it had been thrown from a moving vehicle onto a busy highway.

Problem is, I can't find a place to DL the 1.5 patch.  All of the links I've found seem to be dead.  I was able to get 1.41 . . . so I don't know why 1.5 is so hard to find.

Can anyone give me a working link?

Unfortunately neither of those links work either.  Surely there must be some place to get the patch.

Why would the earlier patches be available but the later one isn't?

Weird.

Also, I don't seem to be able to download the FH2 game.  When I hit the download link . . . nothing happens.

Every time I try to download the 1.50 patch, from any and all sources . . . it begins the download but the "hours left" jumps way up and nothing shows as being downloaded.  Right now, for example, I've been trying to download from the moddb link for the last three minutes.  It shows that nothing has downloaded and that I have between 13 - 24 "hours left".  This is on Google Chrome.  I had the same problem with Internet Explorer.

I just started it on Oracle and it is actually downloading . . . but at incredibly slow rate (I have the fastest DL package available through my provider).  It shows that I have 22 hours to go!

Well, at least I'm getting something.  I'll let it go for awhile and see if it speeds up any.

I did get the FH2 launcher & figured I'd give it a try once I got BF2 up and running.

Fingers crossed.

Update: Got it!  Just took awhile.  It's a huuuge file, which is why it confused me at first.  DL'ing FH2 with the launcher now.  Hope to be playing soon.

Success!

I'm back in. Unfortunately . . . I was the only one.  I used to play after 11pm CST.  When I first began playing a few years back, the servers were pretty full.  When BF2 Bad Company came out, things got real thin online so I quit playing as well. (Bad Company and the following Battlefield games were not my cup o' tea.)

Was hoping people had come back since this is/was such a great online WW2 game.  Are people still playing?  If so, what time of night?

I downloaded BF2 from battlelog but I cant enter BF2-there is always some message. Is that mean that for playing BF2 downloaded from Battlelog you need ReviveLauncher also from Battlelog?

Run the mod with "none" selected in the account selection bar of the launcher, then retrieve your account ingame simply with name + password. Should work.

I tryed that but it didnt work. But I managed to retrieve it by coping new multiplayer profile in MyDocuments  and then changing everything in it to old profile name.

I've been away from FH2 for a long while now, but figured I'd give it a go once again.
However, I have trouble installing. Couldn't find anyone else with the problem, so hopefully someone here knows.

Since I did not have BF2 installed, I started by installing it, and patched it to 1.5. Then installed FH2 launcher. However, when I try to start it, it crashes with a configuration parse error (attached).

I'm running windows 10, and so far I've tried reinstalling and checking that both visual c++ and .net are up to date. Any ideas what I could try next?

I found some infos on this problem. Seems like a Windows / .net error.
Solution might be to overwrite the corrupted machine.config with the default one as described here:

Has anyone had experience with downloading BF2 from battlelog and recovering their original account name?

I had a motherboard failure and haven't had the BF2 install disc in years. Since Origin no longer offers BF2, battlelog seems the only way to go, but that seems like recreating a new account. Looks like they are aware of this kind of issue but I can't tell what the procedure is yet, so any veteran help would be much appreciated.

I will totally repair your tank/fix your wagon/bring you cookies in game.

Hi there,

If you are not an admin for a server, the server files are not needed.

It has been a while since I played this gold quality mod, and I want to come back. But as I changed  the PC, I need  to download BF2  again.

So the question is - are there any places to find still working BF2? Tried to download from several sites, but nothing good so far...

Problem is that the game has gone from Steam and Origin. Or maybe someone could upload somewhere all the stuff, that has to be downloaded?

Thanks in advance, if someone is willing to help in this situation.
