The first day 1,006 people played FH 2.4

You can see how many people have played 2.4 by looking at the Awards site, here is my section
http://awards.fh2.ifihada.com/player/158603052/

I am 50th out of 1006 players.

How many are currently playing can be seen on GameMonitor:
http://www.game-monitor.com/search.php?=undefined&vars=gamevariant=fh2&game=bf2

And there probably are even more people on. Because none of the WaW server stats are listed overthere. Which server were also filled for a good part of the evening/night.

This sounds great!   ;D

Could it be held on Saturday or Sunday, though?  It would be nice to see how the maps play with the 64 players before throwing in the 100+ server.

I Guess there will be a lot of other server that will just have the standard 64 players in (762, HSLAN and WaW server)

I see them releasing something to celebrate the end of ww2

This event will probably happen again I'm sure of that. Everything is getting tweaked and some equipment will be made in the future I believe.

First try these maps with 64 players, air/sea battles with 64 was really cool already!

Were are working on it, our mapper is suffering from a slow cpu, a sore troth and pink floyd syndrome... on his laptop.

Map links will be posted within 5 minutes the high up guys say!

A Russian kit otherwise the Eastern front. Tee hee, mowing down British with a Ppsh.

I remember shooting with the ppsh in World at war tournament a few campaigns back. They were planted as an easter egg on some maps. Was really fun to shoot with (and really powerfull too )

are those antiair globes fuctional or just decoration?, IIRC they were used to make strafes and bombing difficult, do they cover key locations, like AA guns and airfields? :P

You won't survive if you fly into them, I can assure you that ;)

precise low level bombing will require a lot of skills if you don't want to fly against those AA balloons ;)

Waw will be doing shitton's off planes and ships tomorrow ;)

The server is online now :O... with 1 guy in it and a big lock on it..

In a secret test session earlier this week I had the change to play at a few of these maps and they are really amazing!

We submarines are really nice and deadly but if you don't watch out they are also a big prey to planes and ship radar.
And then there are the schnellboote, those things are just really cool!

And not to forget the huge air/see/infantry island maps of tyrranian see, just had immense dogfights with only even 6 planes and it was huge fun! This should be even better with a full server !!

World at War Aerial & Naval Warfare Day - Saturday March 12th

So, we're right in the middle of the between campaign break and I hope everoyne is itching for some more WaW action.

Last campaign saw us make a lot of changes and improvments to the aircraft here at WaW. We added back nose-cameras to the planes and spent a lot of time adding gravity coding to make the planes more interesting and unique to fly, as well as adding in some new custom planes.
Also, we tested out naval combat during the WaW22 scrims on Baleares. More work has been done to get rid of the bugs they had and now we're ready to take to the sea again with working destroyers and submarines!

Therefore, to showcase these new features we're planning the following aerial & naval warfare event for next Saturday, March 12th.
It's going to be open to the public and advertised publically. The aim: to get more people interested and signing up for WaW.

Big thanks to Stubbfan, Paasky, xtune and others for getting the work done.

The maps will be available around Friday March 11th, as they are still being worked on.

    Promo starts here

This coming Saturday, March 12th, the World at War Tournament invites you to take part in a special Aerial & Naval Warfare FH2 event.

The WaW team has prepared several custom maps that feature a wide variety of aircraft, including new custom aircraft. We're also excited to present the return of naval warfare to the Battlefield 2 + Forgotten Hope 2 platform, something that has been missing since the FH1 days.

You'll be able to take to the sea in destroyers featuring a heavy gun as well as a Bofors AA gun and working depth charges. Be aware of the threat from the deep as enemy submarines will also be on patrol and will be stalking you using their periscope and forward and aft firing torpedoes. Finally, you'll also have the chance to engange in large scale armored combat on the map Tundra, where half of your team is going to be driving a tank.

    Event Features:
    - Battle on 5 exciting and unique custom maps
    - Tyrrhenian Sea: Fight for control of several small island with heavy air and naval support.
    - Bombing of Constanta: Launch Soviet Bombing raids against a Romanian port
    - Baleares: Conduct beach assaults against a key island with air and naval support
    - Battle of Britain: Be one of the "few" and defend the white cliffs of Dover against Luftwaffe attacks
    - Tundra: Take part in epic tank battles across this large battlefield

    - Custom equipment
    - New aircraft such as the Stuka G-2 "Kannonvogel", Soviet TB-3 and I-16
    - All aircraft featuring custom WaW Gravity Coding and nose-camera views
    - Fully functional Ships and Submarines with torpedos and depth charges
