Looking for WW2 related info on...

Feel free to use this thread to ask for help on another WW2 subject/topic at the same time.
==============

FORMATION SIGNS/ SYMBOLS
------------------------------

Oh hai.  I'm looking for some precise information online about WW2 formation badges/signs for the US, UK and Italy... I've got a fair few of the UK ones, no US, I can't find anything on Italian army formation signs - did they even have any?

In fact I'd appreciate any online info anyone has on German formation signs, and AUS/NZ - I have a large collection of decals from both these armies, but just want to double check my sources.

Wait, what do you mean by formation signs?  Do you mean like Hearts of Iron style sign codes?  Or do you mean like divisions/corp/army insignia?

Sorry should have been more specific,  :-\ way to start a new thread...

I'd like some informations on WW2 vehicle 'division' signs, it was my mistake to call them formation signs, as my material currently surrounds WW1 when they were called 'fomation signs' by the British and I've got this stuck in my head. I've just made the connection - and a quick search using division insignia has given me a lot of places to look at US division badges, but....  Still nothing for Italy...

I'm also looking for German/ British vehicle formation/division? markings, on one of the Half-tracks in FH2 ..map is Luttich, there is what looks like a cartoon shaped car, which I've always assumed was a tactival formation mark meaning it was an armoured car, I can't find any reference to this atm, but have found one similar that looks different here.

Well, what you've got there is two seperate things, tactical symbols and US divisional patches ;)  Tactical symbols are universal, divisional insignia only used for certain ones.  Germans used plenty of tactical symbols, but very few, divisional, a few being things like Windhund:

And this mushroom insignia for the 205th Infantry Division:

Those would normally be worn on the sides of one's cap.
