How are other demanding multiplayer games? Could the cause be your network hardware, software, or service?

I mean in games in general. I have not seen such dynamic physics implemented well. Even in plain BF2 it is odd to see characters thrown up into the air intact from certain things (if not pistol fire).

Your idea seems promising and I hope it is implemented or at least tested by devs.

It really interupts the immersion factor to see your character thrown around like a rag doll. I do not understand why this was ever considered desirable -for meat to be affected like cloth. In lieu of actually being blown apart, there should be a strong bias towards simply throwing the character to the ground. Otherwise, stock death animations would be preferable.

With Totalize, I have experienced the same distortion of land as in your images of the field. Also, similar with tanks as yours of the soldier by the sandbags. The latter may have happend on another map too. My graphics card is related to yours: HD3650 AGP (passive heat sink) and it is mildly overclocked. So, I did consider the temperature when it happened but it has never happened with plain BF2 nor other mods. FH2 is indeed the most demanding but I am not sure that is the cause.

It happens even with no one else nearby though and the cries are not so loud as being from players in the immediate vicinity.

I tried disabling CMSS-3D but then the positioning of sounds becomes so abrupt that I could not bear it even if it did solve the problem. For instance, when simply turning in place a sound source no longer transitions smoothly around.

I do use headphones. Have you heard this problem?

Most PB problems can be solved by running PBSetup updater and configuring firewall to allow PnkBstrA & B, as alluded by Dukat.

I have experienced a problem going between BF1942/FH1 and BF2/FH2 before though as the files change so the firewall prompts whether to allow again.

If I had more details I would post in Bug Reporting but then again I am not sure if it is strictly an FH2 problem or not... Sometimes (perhaps on certain maps), it seems that all deaths are heard as being relatively close by when they are not (constant stream of grunts and ughs). Most recently an entire round of The Battle For Sfakia suffered this and I recall it being the same before. Plain BF2 has never been like this but since the 1.50 patch, I have heard the same on one or two of the "new" maps  (previously expansions) at certain times. The audio hardware is an X-Fi DSP with the latest drivers including OpenAL (replacing default wrapper). Settings are Ultra High and of course Game mode and CMSS-3D with filters on Auto.

So, is anyone else experiencing this, what is the cause, and is there a solution?

After playing, check the Commit Charge Peak in Task Manager. If it exceeds Physical Memory Total then there is insufficient memory and thus paging to the HDD. Setting Textures to Medium rather than High might prevent that, otherwise increase system memory. However, the ideal situation is having sufficient graphics memory for the textures and thus not even use system memory for those which in turn might prevent paging. So, a graphics card upgrade may be preferable to increasing system memory depending upon how much of a shortfall -plus of course it can increase performance rather than just preclude degrading it.

After changing Textures from High to Medium, FH2 does not optimize shaders again as with plain BF2 so I am wondering if that makes any difference?
