General Discussion / Re: Changes I made for FH2

Well, reduced size and compression make comparisons difficult. PNG on some other image host would be better.

I also find the non-passworded part 2 zip reporting corrupt and forcing recheck does not correct it. Can anyone confirm valid checksums (maybe it extracts okay afterall)?

Ah so, good point. But storage performance can still affect general snappiness. An often overlooked advantage to SSD is no maintenance necessary to minimize degradation from fragmentation or location. I actually keep BF2/FH2 at the beginning of the HDD.

Despite being an SSD, having the game on the same drive as the OS  will not necessarily perform better than on a seperate HDD. However, you are not stuck with either choice thanks to junction links which allow moving or copying data. The proggy Magic Link Junction makes it easy and another option is Link Shell Extension.

I have long used seperate drives for OS and games and continued so with an OS SSD a couple years ago. But more recently I tried copying FH2 from the HDD to the SSD to see if  map load times would be reduced but alas no, despite the latter's significantly higher random and sequential read performance. So presumably it would require at least a "high performance" SSD to achieve better than just matching the seperate drives.

If you do choose to install on the SSD, consider using a seperate volume to at least exclude from OS backup images. It probably will not affect performance versus on the same volume as the OS however. SSD do not wear out so fast to worry about reducing writes, especially if not using the full capacity anyway.

Isolate the cause by starting a multiplayer game. If performance is acceptable then the network is to blame. More likely though the GPU is the primary culprit. If AGP consider a Radeon 4650. Or bite the bullet on a new system. Even integrated graphics are quite good now and exponentially better than the 5500.

I ran about a bit too and like Ts4EVER says there is an MG at the end of the hallway facing the pictured entrance (reminicent of FH1 Charlie Sector west bunker). And on the right side opposite the empty port is another little hidey hole to cover the approach (through probably a death trap for grenades lobbed into the open space).

72
Alas, I haven't had the chance to play 128 (or 126?). Would love to.

Microsoft Bookshelf... must be a mistake 'cause online results for double R are slim. Corrected title.

74
I confess I have not gotten around on PdH. Does the port have an MG in it though? Will have to check it out by creating a multiplayer game for one. <- forever alone/curious

I would have thought that too but my dictionary shows double R.
