Airsoft
« on: 13-10-2009, 21:10:24 »
Soon, i'm gonna start with airsoft. A mate of my does it(He has some very nice war weapons aswel) introduced me to it, and i'm very intrested.

He showed me the rules first and such, and this friday, i'm gonna shoot my first airsoft round aswel.

I'm very intressted in this sport, and i was wondering if their are people here who also do this hobby. And if they can give me tips, or good places where i can purchase decent equipment(Mainly the airsoft weapon itself, i can get my hands on clothing and such)

Or any experiences you want to share?  ;D

I'm an Amateur Airsofter, and I might be able to reference you to some shops to buys airsoft guns, depending on what type of gun you want, how long you are going to participate in the sport, how often you play and what your willing to spend. Electric, gas, spring, expensive, durable, starter...what are you looking for in an airsoft gun?

It works nice its a crosman  P9 stinger ;D durable also.

The problem with me is that the orange tip bugs me so I repaint and weather the gun xD  ;D looks real when im done.
Don't hate the forum, hate it's users...

Haha, yeah I hate the orange tip (even though it's required by law)... I had an M9 that I painted to look real, It never leaves my property now due to the facts I might have some legal issues if it's seen...  :-X

First of all what kind of gun are you looking for? Spring,Gas or Electric?
(Yes I do airsoft, im on a team so i can answer any questions)
For sidearms those are 80% looks and 20% useful, go for a main weapon first.
This is the only european airsoft site I know (I accidently stumbled on it a few months back) http://www.airsoftworld.net/

I don't know if thats Euro or Pounds so sorry, if your looking for a site that sells for USD I can give you plenty.

If your going for a main weapon, what kind are you going for? Semi-Auto, Auto. Rifle, LMG, HMG, Sniper, MG?

Its a fun sport yea, used to shoot sping pistols with an ex-friend of mine around our house in some woods. Doesn't hurt as much as paintball, and its fun cause you can get guns that look like real military grade guns (M4s, M16s, combat shotguns ect). Just don't shoot around in your basement, or you'll do like I did and have a round ricochet into your opponent's ear. (The round literally went inside his ear canal)

Just some more advise, watch/read some reviews on the gun before you get it! That way you will know what to expect with whatever you buy

My clan 7DR play a lot of airsoft, if you are UK based, try here...

www.firstandonlykidderminster.co.uk

They will help you get very cheap reliable working equipment, if you are serious about joining airsoft.

I have several toys, the electric one, a Chinese made AK-47 replica (CM.028). It works though with some reliability issues (the safety switch loosen few times and jamming the motor several times). The battery itself isn't long lasting, after several charges, it dies out very soon. However, it is quite good for the value (around US$80 for new, i got it for US$45 at bargain).

The other ones are gasses, M9 pistol, and H&K P8. Dunno what brand they are, but it was old one and from Japan and the other is from Hong Kong i suppose. The M9 have plastic body, but the later one have metal frame and is so strong that it can penetrate 3 carton boxes at once.

Get the Japanese, Hong Kong, or US one, although it will cost you more. For Chinese brands, have to look on reviews first. We usually took references from here: airsoftworld.net and airsocom.com

Some people here love to modify and customize their airsoft guns, mechanically, which is dangerous, some have improved the muzzle velocity so much that it nearly match pistols firing live rounds. Stupid and dangerous it is (and illegal)... but many people do it so that the bullet hit will be felt by people wearing thick protective suits. My experience with these idiots so far has resulted in my friends having a BB round stuck... i repeat... stuck and planted in his inner skin (exposing a bit of flesh) and produce a big acne-like wound.

a stupid question but, are these weapons effective enough to kill birds? We got urself a magpie plague here  >:( Stupid rats on wings

OMG... anyway as much as i opposed animal cruelty, but to answer your question. It is quite effective under 10 m (33 feet or so) to kill vermin like rats so i think birds won't be much problem. It will create a lot of mess though.
