I can't fly. Or... I don't wanna. About 10 years ago I bought a Flightstick which is rotting since then somewhere in a cabinet.

I usually imagine my own sounds with it, like `tjunk, tupdieyupdiedee` aaa enemy spotted, ratatatataboom

Is this out yet? Last I heard it was still in closed beta IIRC.

Digital Combat Systems is pretty much similar to LockOn: Modern Air Combat series of game.

It is not that "hardcore" considering how it plays compared to level-D full motion 6-axis simulator. It has this strange ground and air mode (like weird take-off and landing effects). Otherwise, it is quite fun, while being realistic.

It gives you a glimpse on how to operate AGM-65E/H/K/etc the IR version or TV version. Drop bombs with the help of that never-get-right CCIP. Got to know how a US' RWR (Radar Warning Receiver) works. Fly a subsonic ground attack airplane (A-10), feel the kick of GAU-8 Avenger while maintaining correct flightpath. After this, you'll no longer read NATO air raid news at any major media with the same astonishment.

Anyway, it will never substitute a real training on a full A-10 simulator or makes us able to fly the real thing.

Played the beta, didnt buy it when it released. But its really fun if you like Simulations/A-10. You need to like both of them though  ;)

I have it and play it occasionally. It's really good if you're serious about playing modern flight sims, and have the equipment to back it up. It can however, be pretty system demanding though especially on take-off and at lower altitudes.

That being said, while this game does have exceptionally good in-game tutorials, expect to go through a mini fighter pilot course just to be able to learn everything.

I find that modern flight sims get more enjoyable the more you learn. Nothing like cruising at 25,000 ft watching your JDAMs hit a target on the MFDs. :P

what me makes angry or rage sometimes is that the trainer does not help you if you fail.
Or in the 2nd training mission where you have to fly a 360° curve without chaning altitude, 2nd time fail = mission end -.-
just nerded around with a friend now and we managed to drop some bombs XD

The training part of these Russian games are always like that. Just like Il-2 Sturmovik, they do the training live, pre-recorded with (probably) the game designer playing the plane with text added below the scene.

Horrible training examples:

Il-2's aerial gunnery, deflection shooting part, the instructor says "spray and pray," while performing stupid lead shots. Missing the obviously huge slow-flying bomber in his lengthy comfortable 3 seconds pass. I've seen noobs on Youtube that perform deflection shooting much better.

LOMAC's F-15C air-to-air, the air combat maneuver part, where the Turkish F-4E drones were the target. The instructor performed unnecessary dramatic left and right banks to slow the damn plane, while the F-4E is making obvious huge radius turn (inherently). Yes, dramatic, just to position yourself at the bogey's tail! You could have just yo-yo the damn plane.

DCS World is free to play now with a detailed Su-25t. All the add ons (A10, P51, etc..) you still have to pay for. Pretty cool for those of you that want to bum around and learn the basic controls before diving in.
