Portable AT gun for Italy
« on: 07-04-2012, 02:04:55 »
I was looking at pictures online for my Facebook page, and I came across this:

http://www.antitank.co.uk/images/20mm/solothurn-PhotoItalyBersaglieri.jpg

It's a Solothurn S-18/1000 in Italian service. While it was very bulky, it was fairly powerful. I'm not sure if the Devs have a candidate for an Italian man-portable AT gun, but if they don't this could be a good one.

Does anyone have any other ideas?

S-18/1000 would seem better suited to me as a deployable AT rifle (like how the deployable lafette works).  If you wanted a portable AT rifle, a fucile controcarro 35(P) would be the best bet.

In 1940, Germany sold some 800 Polish antitank rifles to the Italian armed forces, which used it in combat until the end of World War II.

We just gave the Italians two brand new aircraft, a field artillery gun, and a new tank, and now you guys want this too? What more do the Italians need?! :P

Ooohh, I know.

Maps for where the Italian army stands and fights whilst Rommel runs away crying and abandons them to die in the desert because he is an asshat. :D

Oh yah, that's most desert maps in FH2 |:

I like the idea of the Wz. 35. The only problem is it wasn't in widespread service. That's the problem with the Italians (no rifles with optics either.....).

Why? I'm obsessed with historical accuracy, that's the main reason I love FH2 so much. The desert war has always fascinated me. Seeing that German AT gun in Italian hands just bugs me. However, I can definitely understand why the Devs haven't replaced it, they've been doing quite a few other things.

isn't there a Solothurn S18 mounted on Sahariana? Maybe there is a way to make it stand alone weapon?

I also suggested this before but I dunno, it should be.Wz35 could maybe be imported from Fh1 aswell.

Yes this was mostly used by paratroopers and Italian army in USSR afaik. Also they used whatever Boys rifles they could get their hands on.

Maybe the Italians could have a mixed selection of AT guns. On certain maps they could have certain guns, to show that they used whatever they could (like a Boys, but with Italian gear and what not, or a Wz. 35). It would be similar to the Aussies having captured M13/40s.
