Melitopol Depot for FH2
« on: 08-03-2010, 15:03:34 »
These days I was playing BFBC2,fascinated about the destructible environment under frostbite engine.Having known that the devs have no plan for FH3 any soon,I want to ask why not look back at some old maps like the Melitopol Depot in POE2.It's a map with numerous destructible materials, most of the houses, roadblocks are destructible in that map,not comparable to BFBC2,but far better than most of the BF2 maps.So I want to discuss the possibility of having a FH2 map with destructible environment just like Melitopol Depot.

It should not be too hard, but may face with performance problem though.

I may also add,I want a destructible fence rather than the current tank-killer fence :-\

You should be able to drive through most if not all fences in Normandy maps.

Ever seen Melitopol Depot on a populated server? No, why? It lags.

That will never happen in FH2, there are already enough threads containing destroyable buildings and objects, and it was already enough discussed, and already enough stated that it won't happen.

Still, what happened to destroyable bridges - they were hot muffins in BF2 (hhssssssss).

The destroyable fence in Bardia is nice(ish), the bit you can blow a hole in the wall in Supercharge and break through he defences is awesome - little bits of shit hot destruction like the supercharge wall breach would add to FH2, - normandy + was all about securing bridges right? whether it's historical or not can they be blown up if only slightly to stop tanks advancing and add an extra objective to the game (discuss).
HadrianBT - Why the hell would "Germany" attack pigmy ppl??!!
Thorondor123 - I agree that people are not wearing enough hats

I am pro bridge destruction so my vote is for that. Everything else is cool and all but just to heavy on performance. BF2 just doesnt like desctructable shit.  :-\

I hate destructible enviroments. Not that my comp can't handle it, but too much work and too demanding for so little reward. Most overrated game-feature in the history of video games.
I see were you are trying to reach: "how can a 17 year old kid have such a thinking like this? why doesnt he wants to be like normal teens who whana get rich? and his plan actually makes sense, but is too damn revolutionary and good at the same time than is still doubthfull if it works..." - Damaso

Really, the reward is great, especially when done pretty well. That's what I liked about BC2. The environments being destructible was a huge boost to the gameplay. On top of that, it's not so demanding that almost no one can play it. I could play it at good enough framerates, and my computer isn't the best, being 4-5yrs old

By having destructible environments you loose your 32v32 servers...

I could care less. Plus, there is no limit on how many players can be in game based on the engine ;) I wouldn't mind it anyway.

We should get destructible bridges though or some small other things, like a wall in infantry map that you need to blow up to open another attack route.

Shouldn't lag as BF2 supports those small things.
