It is different. "The Dark Knight" is aimed at more mature audience, while "The Avengers" is more to light-hearted audience. Not a single f-bomb or vulgar sexual reference is shown in the movie.

But the level of satisfaction is: worth watching. So yeah, expect that much and go watch it.

...
I'd say this: the best superhero movie so far. Spider-man series is easily surpassed. I prefer this one, less emo moments, more awesome action, jaw breaking, skull smashing, and not enough funny jokes cracked.
...

Hmmm being better than the Spiderman series isn't hard in my book, they were fairly bland imho.
How would you say does it compare to "The Dark Knight", which for me is the best comic adaptation ever. Hands down!

I'm so psyched about "The Dark Knight Rises"!

Don't compare it to Nolan's Batman movies, because you simply can't. Like Zoologic said, it's a whole different vibe. Batman went for ultra realism while Avengers has different dimensions, gammarays and aliens.
Ironman is the reference point here. If you liked that one, you'll like the Avengers. I rate it up there with X2, Spidey 2, Ironman and both recent Batman movies.

But if you do have to compare the two. Batman is of course grittier and the story is "better" (ie. more intricate), but the action in Avengers is better directed. Now I love Nolan, but he's not an "action-director". Batman has more ambiance but Avengers better character development, and...pfff, nevermind, useless. Apples and oranges. Just go see it, but please don't expect it to be Batman. ;)

Centurion (7/10)

Kinda "meh" movie,I expected more of it.It's good, anyway.

Clash of Titans (7,5/10)

Interesting movie,but wasn't as great as 300.

Nero (8,5/10)

That one was great!Caligula depiction is better in this movie than in the one with the same name (with Malcolm McDowell)
The story is really entertaining, how Nero's mother was a manipulative ****,how the senators were arrogant and enjoyed power. The only character that was kinda boring was Nero himself.
The best part so far is this:

Saw Burton's Dark Shadows. Flawed but highly enjoyable. Looks gorgeous, and has cool actors (*sigh* Michelle Pfeiffer...I'd still hit that. :-P ). A step back in the right direction for Burton (his post Sleepy Hollow movies did nothing for me), but still waiting for a return to form.

I gave it 3 stars, as you can see here (and read here, if you're dutch):

Two not so new films I decided to watch again after a good decade. Heat and Apocalypse Now, both films I saw when I was about 10-11 so didn't understand what the hell was going out through either of the films. Watched both recently and I must say I missed out on a lot ;D

Both deserve a solid 9/10 and thats just because I don't want to give anything a 10/10 ;)

The avengers

9,5/10

Simply an amazing film, even when you dont like the superhero genre like me. The action is great, the dialogous are great, the actors are AMAZING(Iron man steals the show!)

EVERY single character gets enough time and its moment of shine in the right amount!

The humour is great, sometimes predictable but always in a fresh and great concept.
Yes robert downey Jr does the best humour of them all :)

Great movie, for the first time in years it truly felt like every euro that i spended ona movie was worth it
i watched it in non-3D
-i am fairly sure that if they took porn off the internet, there would only be one website left and it would be called bring back the porn "Perry cox, Scrubs.

Did a movie evening and watched two films, today:
Into the wild
It´s about a young man who, after graduating from college, decides to leave society. He destroys every worldly possesion he has and donates the money he saved up to charity. He travels through the USA and meets many different people and makes all sorts of experiences.
His last journey takes him to Alaska, where he tries to find enlightment in solitude. After making it through winter he finally finds the answer he was seeking, but pays a high price.

Rather slow-paced, this movie tells an interesting story. The actors play the characters really well and the movie has some really amazing nature scenes.
7.5/10

After reading the book some months ago, I also finally watched The Road.
The movie tells the story of a father and his son who struggle on their way to survive a postapocalyptic country. Always on the brink of starvation and being chased by other survivors who´ve degenerated into canibalism, they follow the road to the coast, hoping to find a place to live.
Viggo Mortensen is does a great job playing the father, the post-apocalyptic USA look really "good" and the story is really good as well. The ending, while being sad, also contains a glimpse of hope, which makes this movie so much enjoyable.

8.5/10
And so he spoke, and so he spoke, that lord of Castamere,
But now the rains weep o'er his hall, with no one there to hear.
Yes now the rains weep o'er his hall,
and not a soul to hear.

I began to watch Centurion a year ago on a plane. Watched 10 minutes then turned it off. Seemed so fucking worthless. A splatter-movie in a roman setting.
I see were you are trying to reach: "how can a 17 year old kid have such a thinking like this? why doesnt he wants to be like normal teens who whana get rich? and his plan actually makes sense, but is too damn revolutionary and good at the same time than is still doubthfull if it works..." - Damaso

If you want to watch a good film about Legio IX Hispana, I can recommend The Eagle.

It's a story about retrieving the IX's lost eagle standard.

Finally watched Kick Ass. Solid 7/10. Really liked the beginning, normal person trying to be a superhero. But then they still went with the superhero action movie theme, that was a disappointment. Still very entertaining and very fun to watch.

Watched The Dictator yesterday. It is a veritable Baron Cohen, very politically incorrect, sexist, racist, one might even say anti-judaic. But the whole house laughed its ass off.

Story
Admiral-General Aladeen of the republic of Wadiya is one of the last great dictators of the world. He has been summoned to the UN to comment on his leadership of the country. However, he is betrayed by his cousin, who has Aladeen's beard shaved off, and replaced by his double, who is a mindless goat herder. The cousin tries to take control of the country's oil supplies and sell them to the highest bidder. Meanwhile Aladeen tries to regain control of his beloved country and reinstigate the dictatorship. For that he teams up with a eco-grocery store holder and a nuclear scientist whom Aladeen had supposedly executed, resulting in hilarious dialogue and more silly acts.

Result: this complaint against the conduct of america is pretty much a film where you have to shut down your brain and sit back and enjoy. The goat herder produced one of the most rememberable acts of comedy, but that's up to you guys to find out. NO SPOILERS HERE!

8/10

You missed the point then. That's exactly what's cool about it. The Eagle was good, but way too sincere for its own good. I must admit I expected more from Centurion the first time around (I'm a big fan of the director, Neil Marshal  - Dog Soldiers, Doomsday, The Descent), but I rewatched it recently and it works better the second time around, when you know you're not expecting a Kingdom Of Heaven type epic. Solid small scale, gritty, low budget period chase movie. And hey, Olga Kurylenko!  :P

Another movie milking the mystery of the 9th is The Last Legion. More of an adventure movie than historical epic it sets up the King Arthur legend nicely. Silly but enjoyable, as all good adventure movies are. Ben Kingsley as a wizard, and prissy Colin Firth (of all people) as the heroic protector of the last Roman emperor.
