@fml it is actually just copying a fh2 folder (your DL) into your /mods folder.
Normally no repairs should be needed.

The FH2 developers decided that since these maps are not original FH2 content
they will not be distributed with the FH2 launcher, which is their good right.

We will try to provide a launcher for automatic installation of the next issue of the CMP.
Normally if you read the instructions on www.762-ranking.de it should not be that hard.
Let us know if you need further help.

At the moment it is not possible to mix CMP maps with the stock FH2 maps (yet).
The server 762#2 is up and running 24/7 with ranking, you are welcome to play
and give us your feedback about the maps (what to fix, etc.).
Kind Regards / MfG

With all due respect, Odium, the actual reply of the FH2 developers was not a whim, as it may sound in the quote above, it was about technical limitations:
1. The launcher does not have built-in support for distributing custom map packs (in other words, it can install updates only from a single source).
2. The alternative option of making the pack a part of the official releases would make those maps "official" too, with all the consequences of that status.

Can I offer you the installation script which has worked well for distributing a couple of other map packs - Singleplayer patches for FH 2.45 and FH2: Forgotten Maps (SP/COOP)? The script is rather simple, nothing fancy, but it withstood thousands of downloads without a single "How to install this thing?" issue reported here on the forum.

Not my point, Gavrant. I did not say anything of a whim.
I said that you guys decided that it would not be done.
The reasons do not enter into it, I did express myself exactly that way
because I did not want to start a discussion again. All is well as it is now.

If you have ideas/input for the mappack updater, we will of course look into it,
we are happy for all help we can get. Please contact Harmonikater.

He is writing the installer atm. Contact me via PM if you need his skype contact data.

I know this is an old thread.  I recently had to reformat my HD and I'm now using the community updater to re-install the community Map Pack.  The version is v2.2.11  and the status says "needs repair."  Is this OK or do I need to find a newer version of the Community Content Updater?  Thanks.

Hi Gomerpyle,

the FH2 Community Updater will update itself. This will happen when you launch the Updater.
If it fails, check if your Firewall or Antivirus blocks the update.

The updater will, after it has successfully launched, also notify you, if one of the available
extras to FH2 (CMP, texture pack, FHT, ...) is due for an update.

If you check for repairs and it tells you to repair, then that normally refers to one of
the extras to FH2, not the updater itself.

On another note:

Dear Players,

we have made some fixes to the Community Map Pack to try and reduce the server/client crashes.
There will be a test event so see how the changes have taken effect on Sunday 18.00 UTC.

Please join us on Server [762]#1 at that time!

Dear players,

as of now, server [762]RANKED #1 is running FH2.52 with the [FHT] & [762] & [WaW]
Community Map Pack sprinkled in between.

If you need the CMP map pack, please download it from the NEWS section of the [762] forum.

If you already have the CMP installed but still get errors, please run your Community Updater, mark the
CMP, then "Check for updates" or "Repair". That should update your installed CMP in any case.

Regards,
x4fun I<ODIUM>I.

P.S. If you dislike the CMP, feel free to use [762]RANKED #2 server, it will remain on FH2.52 unaltered.
More importantly, please give us your feedback here in the forums, maybe we can use it to improve the CMP.
Kind Regards / MfG

Ts4ever, i watched your videos and there are really some bad maps in CMP and you are right in your comments. I also would suggest CMP guys just to take 10 maps, mostly pacific and italy as offical fh2 doesnt have it, and polish it up. Now can you please look all maps in cmp and put them in these categories and tell us:

- Very good (maps that are good concept and design and with more work could be near or same as offical maps)
-Good (maps that are not bad and have potencial but they went wrong way and need heavy work)
- Bad ( not concept not design are near good, looks like fast made tornament maps, better start from scratch again)

Of course some other dev can also tell his opinion.
P.S. I dont want to make 'fight' bettwen two sides, just want to see what are differences betwen good/bad maps which can be usefull for mappers as comparation(from devs point of view)

While it is always a good idea to divide a very large work package into smaller, easier to handle packages (in this case working first on the best maps and then moving on to the ones which require more work), you're going to have a hard time having people agree on what's a good map and what's a bad map.

I personally love Aserafimov's map and some of the FH1 Pacific ports, but loathe the vanilla Battlefield 1942 ports, which are on the other hand very popular among public players.  :-\  If you have watched Ts4ever's videos you'll know how technically speaking Operation Cobra is not a very good map, yet people love it due to the huge amount of tanks.

Congrats for your work guys :)

Some maps are amazing. Even if some needs optimization;), Undergrowth, overgrowth, push system, they are refreshing and fun to play. Thx to this addition. :)

Pacific yay !  ;D

@ Otolikos: thanks for letting us know, we are happy about every FH2 dev that takes the
time to play the CMP maps and give us constructive feedback. Even if we can't realize it
instantly and not always one-to-one (TS4ever knows :P ). But we are happy to have you
guys watching over our shoulders and to have your advice.
