if you have a retail (a version with a physical CD/DVD) then it should install itself in the correct folder. no need for any input from your end.

if in doubt it should install simply the BF2/mods folder

My friend tried to install FH2.3 and it says he needs a patch greater than 1.5?  He said he installed forgotten hope first (he thought FH2.3 was a stand alone game) then reinstalled after he installed BF2. Is there another patch that needs to be installed for FH2.3 to work? BF2 works fine by itself.

As far as I know, the order of install is BF2, 1.41 patch, 1.5 patch, FH2 2.3.  ;)

Hope that helps.

By using EADM, BF2 will be installed easily and with all the latest patches.
At least i think it does so, cos i downloaded and installed it thru EADM and after installing FH2, it worked like a charm.

A short note for those interested in playing FH2 on linux (probably  0.01% of the forum visitors ;)).

I've managed to get FH2 working for online play without getting kicked by Punkbuster. Something I tried before many moons ago but couldn't succeed in.

Using the newer versions of wine (http://www.winehq.org/) it's actually pretty easy, here are the steps I took:

- Get everything you would need for a Windows install (BF2, patches, FH2)

- Get the newest version of wine (http://www.winehq.org/)

- Mount the CD, open a console and navigate to the CD

- Start the setup program
Code: [Select]
..$ wine setup.exe  You should be able to just run the windows installer and install BF2

- Install the patches and FH2 installer likewise using the 'wine' command in console

You should be able to run FH2 now.

Doing this I was able to play, during online play I got problems with Punkbuster though. Here is a work around which works for me:

- Get the 'pbsvc.exe' executable from http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=pbsvcfaq.php and save it inside the 'Battlefield 2/pb' folder. (By default the BF2 folder is '~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/EA GAMES/Battlefield 2/pb' (~ is your home dir))

- Use wine to execute it and reinstall Punkbuster using the pbsvc.exe, some test should run with result that everything went fine

- Run FH2

Note: I used Ubuntu 10.10 and wine 1.2.2.

Be aware that graphic and sound quality isn't anywhere near that of its windows counterpart. I had to use a resolution of 800x600 and the lowest settings to be able to play. When I used Vista on this machine I had settings set on High, 2xAA and a higher resolution.

Sounds are awefull too..

..But hey, it works ;)

Are they in folders, a .zip, or .exe?

If its a .exe, you only need to double click the icon to install it, starting with the first install file.

If it is in a .zip file, you will need winrar (or another .zip opening application of your choice), a link to WinRar can be found in the first post of the thread

Double click the winrar icon for the first part of the download, inside, should be a .exe file. Double click it and just say yes to everything that pops up. That will install the first part.

Repeat for the second installation and FH2 should be installed.

Once FH2 is installed, run the FH2 icon as Administrator and you'll be set to go

You can see the error screen when you run FH2/BF2 in windowed mode. To do this just add "+fullscreen 0" to the link-properties on your desktop (accessible via right-click on the icon).

Did the installation work without any problems and are you sure that your BF2 is on version 1.5?

Which one?
Could it be the Novint.dll?
