Grant gunsight very small in FullHD resolution
« on: 19-09-2010, 22:09:30 »
Didn't found a topic for this, so might be a known "feature", but...

In 1920*1080 resolution, Grant's gunsight view (especially the 75 mm, also 37 mm to a lesser extent) seems very small. It's as if it didn't scale with the resolution but would be fixed size - all the other tank, AT gun and arty sights I have tried since moving to modern hardware seem to be the same size they were on 1024*768. Plus there's awfully lot of empty black space in the sidebars... Is this intentional, dependent on the BF2 engine, or what? Screenshots attached.

And also the current STUG doesn't fire from the central of the gunsight. :-\

@kelmola
I guess that this is because of the different FOVs (Field of Vision) that are used for different aspect-ratios.

@kingtiger
It probably does not fire from the central of the gunsight because the sight is mounted besides the gun and not in the barrel of the gun.

Ah nice find, this is one of the reasons why the 'in which resolution do you play' thread was started.
Most Normandy tanks were corrected to fit the newer wide-screen resolutions, but I guess this older one was missed.

No, the stug use same scope as pak40, pak40 does fire from the central, but stug fire from right down side, making it much less accurate compare to pak40. I think that's a scope bug since 2.2, smilar bug is in 2.25 where firefly's shell is fired from the left upper side of the scope centre.

Neither of them fire from central of sight. There is no weapon in FH that does it.

Ok I just say this:Compare to the pak40, stug fire from right down side of the scope centre, while they use same scope.

btw:The firefly's bug had been fixed in 2.26.

Well, I compared and actually both of them hit little to right.

Or do you mean that shot leaves Stug from lower right, where the barrel of gun actually is? On PaK shot seems to leave gun more from middle of sight, becouse sight is closer to barrel.

I think the stug is way more inaccurate than pak40...

Sorry, but I used to do that in Gazala with pzIVF1.

So does pointing out such scope bug equals to you're not able to shoot because of it? I don't understand why you guys are so negative about correting such noticable bug.

We don't see a bug? I mean, you say "stug fire from right down side of the scope centre". That is becouse sight is not right next to/inside gun.

Alright, just leave it to the devs,the firefly's problem had been fixed so I think it's about time to fix this one.
