Off-Topic / How dumb can you get?

It's of course the Zoos fault. They should have put a ferocious and scary animal in there, so nobody would want to enter it.

Suggestions / Ts4EVERs wacky and weird suggestions
« on: 09-04-2009, 19:04:06 »
Ok, I know that the following suggestions are a bit on the weird side, but sometimes it takes a weird thought to get something unique.

1. Tank-Wreck as sniper nest

I already made that one in a thread on the old board, but I think there is no harm to post it "officially" here. I read an account about german snipers or "suicide boys" hiding in burnt out tanks, where they were hard to detect and in bullett proof cover. Since there are usually many static tank wrecks lying around on FH2 maps it would be a nice idea to create one you could use as a sniper\MG nest.

2. Smoke filled house

I actually had this idea while playing CoD5 Coop at a friend of mine. In one Berlin level you have to crouch under smoke that has accumulated under the cealing, other wise you suffocate. This could be created using the barbed wire code on a smoke static. Of course there could be problems with noobs.

3. Allied planes for the Germans

No this is not about captured planes. During Operation Bluecoat, Canadian troops were tasked with assaulting an important hill. After a while things started to go wrong: artillery didn't materialize and enemy positions were not where Intel had indicated. They called in air support on a strong enemy position and were bombed by there own planes, who mistook them for Germans. After that they realised they were on the wrong hill. I think it would be a nice (if slightly weird) scenario for a map. The misguided pilots would be simulated by giving the planes to the Germans. The only problem is of course that the ground troops would also shoot on "there own" planes, which of course didn't happen in reality.

Suggestions / Beretta smg in normandy
« on: 04-04-2009, 18:04:35 »
I usually don't make weapon suggestions because
a) the weapon is very common and will be added anyway or
b) the weapon is rare and not worth the additional effort.

However, have a look at this pictures, taken during the normandy fightings:

A group of german soldiers, 2 (!) of whom have the Beretta smg.
Because the weapon is already done I suppose it wouldn't be too much work to create a pickup kit, containing the smg (perhaps rename it to MP739(i)) with german sidearms (Stielhandgranate, K98 Bajonett). It's small details like this that make Forgotten Hope stand out, so I think it would be worth the effort.

Opinions?

XWW2 is not dead after all and released pictures of their Crete map:

I have to say, I am impressed (especially since the first pictures I saw were rather... mediocre). I will definetly check it out once it is released.

Modding / [WIP] Meknassy
« on: 02-04-2009, 14:04:38 »
Hi
I recently started my first own map, mostly to get accustomed with the editor. It is based on the raid on Meknassy, a town in Tunisia. American troops raided the town and made several italian prisoners. I chose this scenario because there are not many italian maps so far and even less italian vs USA maps. In reality the raid happened at night, so I might choose to convert it to a nightmap once I start messing around with the lighting options. So far I'm mostly building the terrain and static objects. The map is small (the size of Sfakia I think) and will be infantry heavy.

Now some WIP-pictures, I will upload more as I progress:
