Miracle at St. Anna

5/10

Long and with a complicated, twisted plot that's hard to follow.

Part of the unwritten American WW2 movie convention to set patriotic pieces in the ETO and thoughtful, complicated films in Italy.

Regardless, the movie also suffers from the "random guys randomly stuck behind enemy lines" plot line. Especially when they stay there with no fighting or enemy in sight for half the movie.

I watched St.Anna. The execution scene was brutal, and left a lot of qustions unanswered. 7/10

I was reading reviews on IMDB and one reviewer made an excellent point. He said this movie basically portrays black soldiers in WW2 as fulfilling the racist stereotypes that those who opposed black combat units used in their arguments - that black soldiers were undisciplined, cowardly, unable to follow orders, not very smart, constantly lusting after other men's wives, etc. This wasn't the case, but that's what you see in Spike Lee's movie.

Gran Torino.

8/10

I finally saw it. The movie was pretty good, to be honest. It had a good story, with good morals, which are especially evident at the end.

But the reason I give it 8 stars is because the acting on behalf of the Asian brother and sister (I honestly cannot remember or spell their names) was rather poor often times.

Still, good movie, a must see!

Equilibrium

8/10

Some dazzling action scenes, but more importantly for me the philosophical messages and dystopian world setting were quite amazing and shows a great influence from the books Fahrenheit 451 and Brave New World.

I loved Equilibrium and it was the start of my 'fanhood' with Christian Bale, but I must admit, it blatantly rips off all the old Utopian novels. ;)

For style and acting I give it a 8/10 as well. :)

Isn't it more of a tribute to them?

Copying is a form of flattery, you know. :P

Saw the movie a couple of years ago, I'd give it a 8/10. Worth watching again.

Watchmen
- One of the best intros of all time. An awesome soundtrack and very good looking movie. But, it is way too long and I get the feeling that this kind of story isn't really easy or maybe even not possible to do a correct and good movie of.

5 out of 10

The Hangover
- Dude, where's my car for adults

5 out of 10

Appaloosa.

5/10

Being a western film, I thought there would be more, you know, action. I found it rather boring, as it had very few action scenes.

Harry Potter and the half-blood-prince

I read all HP novels, but I have to admit that I lost track a bit during the final 3 or so. Too many characters and background information. The movie was not bad, but sort of... slow. There wasn't really much of a plot or atleast I had the feeling that what I like to call the "conspiracy part" of Harry Potter could have been done in under one hour. The rest was relationship trouble between teenagers who didn't act like teenagers, more like children or perhaps politically corrected teenagers their parents want to have, if you catch my drift. In the end there were some nice action scenes and good special effects throughout. I was outright fascinated by the many details of the world (like the joke shop or the house of the weasleys). Very nice design. All in all an entertaining movie, but not a great one.

Gattacta

8/10

One of the best Sci-fi movies I've ever seen, with good moral and ethical points, but the ending was too artistic for my liking.
Twilight - the movie is just like Schindler's list... You know you're watching a crime against humanity, but it's sort of entertaining.~~Ts4EVER

Decided to go way back in time, looking for whodunits so I discovered The big sleep

Why do they call them classics? Sure Casablanca is a gem all the way through, so is Dr Strangelove, but I can't watch some of these oldies with my critical friends... to painful for even me - I wince when I see some scenes. Fists fights are terrble (in French please, I need the emphasis) - And the plot is so weak compared to any 24 episode - Well, obviously...

Was just looking to see if there actually was a movie that exists with a P.I, a gorgious femme fatale, the main actor doing a monologue throughout the movie in his head, street-wise, twists.. dark alleys and wise-crack dialogue..

It seems like the parodies fit the mould better than the supposed-to-be real deals - The max paynes, Kiss-kiss bang bangs, Stay tuned and Who frame Roger rabbits...

The big sleep gets a 6/10 for its time and a 3/0 compared to anything current

I wonder if hollywood would decide to use serious special effects and put actors from times past with actors of today - It could make a terrific movie... Humphrey Bogart and George Cloony, Arnorld Schwatzenegger and Sly Stallone,

Some of the oldies are icons, Bogart's got swagger - if he ever found the right role - Sure would be nice to see what they'd do today - Just bring their acting style to date, get clearer versions of their voice and give em a cigarette
