Nobody talks about possible modding tools anymore eh? Love how Dice got away with it..

That is, for me, the biggest insult towards the community... People modded far more difficult games.

I think it is more to do with how they developed the Frostbite engine.  As far as I can recall, it utilizes a lot of third party plugins rather than being its own comprehensive engine.

Did he really narrated those FH2 introduction tutorial videos?

I am going to miss him.

Where did you get that idea?

Maybe confusing 'Cynical Brit' nickname with 'British Soldier'?

I will be buying it...

It looks like a lot of fun like BF1 was, but I will go with Post Scriptum or Hell Let Loose (and FH2  ;) ) for my authentic WW2 fix!

Huh, didn't know they lend-leased Shermans to the Soviets. Did the Soviets like the tank?

I knew they lend-leased Shermans, but I did not know they provided the 76mm version.

This is a weird image to me.  Is this entirely legit or is it some kind of composite?  For some reason, the guy in the schwimmwagen looks like a doll figure.

The Tirpitz pictured in Kåfjord with the smokescreen seen drifting across the water

Interesting finding about how the chemical smokescreen used to protect the Tirpitz left a mark on the environment!

Why are the photographs from SA-Kuva always such high-resolution?  Was Finnish camera technology vastly superior or were the army photographers just very well equipped?

I am interested in what model/type of camera was used to take those photographs.

Was this during the Lapland War or did Finland actually operate some panzer ii's? I thought they only had sturmies and panzer iv's (though were those ever delivered?)

Without knowing the exact context of the picture, I can say that the germans had several types of tanks in lapland from the start of Barbarossa all the way until the end of the war, including Panzer II's. Finns did not have Panzer II's.

Photograph looks like it is from Continuation War since it is summer. Possibly 1941 when Barbarossa started?

Leopardi probably knows the caption.

OK, thanks!

Another observation:  There doesn't look like there is any damage due to an explosion, so was the turret removed purposefully so as to keep the tank non operational? Did the soldiers who abandoned it not have explosives, so they somehow pulled the turret off (seems like that would be difficult)...though without proper equipment it would be impossible to put it back on in the field if it were captured. The guns have also been removed.

Alternatively, the Finns could have dislodged the turret and taken the weapons so as to keep it from falling back into German (or Russian) hands?

I thought that was a panzer iv or iii at first, but then I noticed the hull configuration and found out it was a panzer ii.  Was this during the Lapland War or did Finland actually operate some panzer ii's? I thought they only had sturmies and panzer iv's (though were those ever delivered?)

Why do all video games about World War II have such weird names?

The war was so far reaching you can't help but get poetic?  ;)

As to Post Scriptum, they explained that the name comes from the universal practice of writing letters home.  They chose this name to act as a brand name instead of WW2-specific as they could possibly branch out to other wars.

This is the one game that I am extremely excited about!

yes french H39 (at least 3 of them)
and maybe one more (very far in the background)

OK, I see that now.  I thought they looked familiar, but they looked odd to me.  I thought the one between the sdkfz 251 and 222 had no turret, but I guess the combination of the H39 being so small along with the angle of the photograph and soldiers in front makes it look odd.

Thanks!  ;D

What are those two other tank types that are shown in this picture?

I know the sdkfz 251 with 75mm in the front and then the 222 third from the front, but what is between those two (which is also on the street in the back) and the tank crossing the ditch?

We were mainly speaking of that one specific incident in Deir Ez Zor.  No one is denying the fact that Syria is a clusterfuck, nor that the US is absolved from criticism in it's role in the conflict.  However, I believe the involvement of ISIS muddies the water a bit in arguing that the US-led coalition does not have a reason to be involved in Syria, mainly because Syria (for the most part in recent years) hasn't really existed as a governable state within most of its territory since the height of the Civil War.  Double standards definitely apply, but at this point I would rather the US be operating inside sovereign borders (illegally) fighting against a non-state entity that is a proven global threat.

This is an example of the world being gray, rather than black and white.

Everyone involved in this conflict is guilty of double standards and dirty behavior.  That is what is unfortunate.

Siege is about to be lifted soon, only 15 km give or take. Very fast.

@VonMudra: I agree with Torencio on this one. The US has always been against Assad's government since the beginning of the conflict. Any setback the SAA gets greatly helps the US-backed forces in Syria.

I think it is nonsense to believe the US in that incident would intentionally weaken the SAA over ISIS.  It makes far more sense to let the two keep each other occupied if your goal was to weaken both.  It was an accident, clear and simple. ISIS is a much bigger concern than the SAA for the US coalition.

If I am not mistaken, hasn't the coalition bombed SAA-aligned forces when they tried to push against US-backed opposition forces which had US advisors/special forces among them?  The US only cares about the SAA when it is directly infringing on their operations, which Deir ez Zor does not.
