Passenger Planes Cabled to Airborne Gliders
« on: 19-08-2012, 01:08:07 »
Is it possible to attach the gliders to the passenger planes by cable like the C47?

I believe the use of gliders is now applicable to gameplay because the new angle mod added to the planes have allowed them to take more of a beating while landing on ground (Plus some landing sleds under the gliders should soften up the landing).

Also to increase the survivability of German fallschirmjagers in the Crete map, add gliders to the first wave of planes since from what i read, the first wave of fallscirmjagers were dropped in by glider, then the rest by chute.

Also when can we get a bomb run map? Just a long strip of land and AA emplacements rittled along the way to the objective(Factory Buildings)? Almost like the bombing of Constanta map by the WaW community

would feature them?

I was replying to pizzaman's "market garden" post, obviously. ::)

Pegasus map could feature Horsa gliders. Maybe even maps based around Ste. Mere-Eglise or St. Marie-du-Mont, I don't really remember the American landing zones from the top of my head. Basically the maps set on D-Day or D+1 could feature Wacos/Horsas as that's when the most was flown in (afaik).

If a map about pegasus bridge was to be made I doubt there would be a flyable glider.

There are Horsa gliders "upcoming" for quite a while now. To me landing in a glider is one of the most amazing things, but I feel it might need some time until they will be in the mod. Eastern front probably has priority over such things, but who knows...

I like that they will come and I love every update the devs do anyway, so I'm fine with waiting. Anyway, my feeling tells me that quite some patience is needed.

Well I think using gliders on Crete would be even worse for germans, a low flying slow big object isnt especially hard to hit  :P

Crete is just a giant mess. Can't get any planes near the island if flying too low, and if the player flies too high, the parachuters get their asses rittled while falling to the ground.

Also if this game's physics actually works, the Junkers pilot can slingshot a glider by gently diving downwards and get more speed, then detaching the glider and pulling up again. That should make the glider's decent much faster.
