Ok this is SO weird. I was JUST thinking a couple days ago(on the 8th) that I should google to see if Dick Winters is still alive. I never did it, but the thought entered my head that I wasn't sure if he was still alive. Really weird timing ...

Terrible news, but he was 92 and lived a long life. It's a good thing he was alive long enough to tell his stories to Steven Ambrose and countless other authors so that they are preserved for posterity. RIP.

I really thanked that such man lived. What a great man.

The only regrets for me is like the rest, I never met him personally.

I actually did wiki him not too long ago (couple of weeks? Around the time when The Pacific started on finnish TV) to see if Winters and other Easy's and 'rines were still alive.

He lived a long life and Im sure he had a good life too. Now he can rest. <S>

RIP  :-[

Some of the other Easys I think are still alive - I watched the series about 5 months ago and I like, you, was inspired to look them up

Wild Bill and Buck are both still alive I'm pretty sure in their late 80s

Good on them

Man this sucks, really the guy was a badass. At least he died peacefully and led a quiet life for what war left of him.

Rest In Pieces.

Although it is sad to see him go, at least his story had a happy ending.

RIP

92 years old? Not many people can dream of that. Although I highly despise these threads, well lived mr. Winters.

And in the end he found himself a quiet little town, settled down and married, raised up two children and lived his life in peace. Sounds like a happy ending..

Rest In Peace, Major.
