Off-Topic / Suicide bomber met Jesus in Istanbul
« on: 31-10-2010, 18:10:36 »
So the area I live in Istanbul is very active in protests, terrorist attacks, bombings etc. Cause its all crowded, today around 10:40 am a bomber blew himself up between 2 Police vehicles. I was there because I go to a place called Waffling thats just 50 or so meters from the scene nevermind the fact that my new house is less than a kilometer from the spot too.

Off-Topic / Last US Combat Brigade has left Iraq.

The last U.S. brigade combat team in Iraq has left the country, a move that helps U.S. President Barack Obama reach his goal of 50,000 troops in the country by September 1.

Their departure leaves about 56,000 U.S. troops in the country, according to the U.S. military.

Capt. Christopher Ophardt, spokesman for the 4th Stryker Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, said the last of the 4,000 members of the unit crossed the border into Kuwait early Thursday.

A few hundred members stayed behind to finish administrative and logistical duties but will fly out of Baghdad later Thursday, Ophardt said.

Much of the brigade departed more than a day ago, but the announcement was delayed for security reasons.

I for one applaud the success the US of A has had in Iraq. And its good that they're finally leaving, less money and resources poured into a foreign country! + Now it can be our turn to wreak havoc in that country :D

Greek special forces chanted harsh anti-Turkish-Albanian slogans during an official military parade in Athens, reports said.

According to reports, racist and Nazi slogans were chanted against Macedonians, Turks and Albanians at the military parade of the Greek Armed Forces held in Athens on Independence Day.

While the soldiers were marching they chanted: "They are Skopians, they are Albanians, we will make new clothes out of their skins", Greek daily newspaper Eleftherotypia reports. "We will slaughter them until they worship the cross", was one of the slogans.

In a commentary the daily stresses that such slogans were not shouted by members of "Golden Dawn", but rather members of the army's special diving forces.

"Why all the hate?", the Greek newspaper asks and expressed astonishment of the Greek army violating the law of discrimination. "Are we living in 2010 with a socialist government? or in the past of military dictatorship?" Eleftherotypia asked.

However, Greek media said, The Civil Protection Ministry suspended the coast guard officer in charge of the parade unit and pledged tough action against unidentified members accused of shouting racist slogans against Albanians during the Independence Day parade. The ministry "strongly condemned the incident".

Meanwhile, Albanians organized a demonstration of protest in front of the Greek embassy

Cant blame them, I mean we penetrate their airspace almost a dozen times a day PLUS our Corvettes and Frigates have been sight seeing in their Territory a few times in the last month

Hallo. Well my 28 days in Gallipoli passed, ive been sent to Iğdır which borders Iran and Armenia. Ive been promoted to Asteğmen which is a Lieutenant and I have the responsibility of patrolling 50 km's of Iranian border and 20 of Armenian I dont even have the manpower and they're telling us to do more with less lol. The area is very fvcking remote, the closest thing to civilization is a town 4 hours away from our Karakol which is a house sized building with 17 guys and 2 RPG's and 3 Land Rovers lol. I only get to leave every 3-4 days hence why im never online anymore. Its very fvcked up as well, recent cluster fvck that is Iran is provoking and were on full alert if somethin were to break out the nearest backup is like 2 fvckin hours out IF we actually get a radio signal, I cant get much pics but ill find one of those stupid Kodak plastic cameras and take some pics of the border itself...

Its interesting here though, ive gotten into trouble around 3 times so far once with the Iranians once at the Hospital and another with the Police chief... At night the Iranians have fvcking firefights with regional Kurdish rebels, and we gave them a radio and told them to update us every so often but we'll be there sitting with tea and all the sudden TAKATAKATAKATAKATAKA and see return fire and then explosions and shit, we sometimes have to help them because of a regional agreement (if we are attacked by Kurdish rebels they help us back) and we'll have 4 PKM's running at once into their position while the Iranians run in with a fireteam :D But its not all fun and games with the Iranians, they dont like communicating and I told a high ranking Iranian officer that if they stop communicating with us that I would send 15 guys running into Iran to see wtf is going lol so its starting a beef, but some of them are actually nice to my surprise (they brought us tea and black olives once xD)

Anyway thought I should update if you have any questions and ill try to answer :)

PS Happy valentines day puahah

Off-Topic / World Air Forces Directory 2009
« on: 04-01-2010, 23:01:18 »
The latest version of Flight International's World Air Forces directory is now available as a FREE downloadable pdf.

The directory uses abridged numerical information sourced from it’s MiliCAS and HeliCAS databases. Published as premium products, these provide subscribers with detailed fleet information on military aircraft types, in the majority of cases down to serial number detail. Fleet entries are split into the following categories:

ACTIVE: Aircraft in day-to-day use. For Soviet-era types where only summary information is available, this also includes some non-operational platforms.

ORDERED: Aircraft under firm contract or the subject of formal purchase agreements. This category also includes some orders which have yet to be confirmed with these marked by an asterisk.

Interesting source for Active aircraft and order on aircraft on different Air Forces.

Off-Topic / A Real Patrol [Img Heavy Story :D]
« on: 08-12-2009, 15:12:45 »
Unfortunatley, 99% of all Patrols end up being the same boring shit, as ive learned the past year or so.

First part is: Bleh you get to the base all gay and happy hoping to serve the enemies ass on a plate

Part 2: You meet your Comrades

Part 3: You receive your Armor, ie Helments and Vests and maybe have a meal (Do remember that MOST Turkish soldiers reject Armor, such as our unit)

Part 4: You take a picture of your holmes manning a .50

Part 5: You actually go on patrol

Part 6: You take exotic pics beside the mountains

Part 7: You take a pic of a terrain thats eating you alive

Part 8: You push up higher on the mountains, knowing thats where the enemy lives

Part 9: Oh look, a weird wall

Part 10: You strike a pose with your rifle to show off.

Part 11: We end our patrol... With a ride home

NOW, i sincerely hope you expect that if you decide to join your respected Armed Forces one day, and remember this is EVEN if you get Deployed.

BUT do remember for the rest of your life if you ever hit a CONTACT :D

Thats about it, i was bored as all hell... And when you take 2000 pics during your service then... ehhhhh well you're facked..

PS: The contact picture is not mine :)
