This is a great reason why Dice dropped mods.  Why the fuck would I ever buy COH add-ons when this shit is out there.  Blitzkrieg is the only way to play COH people....Get this.

EF uses the vanilla system where your units shoot at 20meters maximum. Blitzkrieg is a realist mod where bullets are deadly and where you can shoot really far with tanks and infantry.

For me when I say "Let's play Blitzkrieg" to my brother, vanilla CoH doesn't even pass through our mind, since blitzkrieg is better in everything. So many new models and units, emplacements, abilities, etc.

This is stupid. You know that TONS of players bought BF2 only for Project Reality or FH2?! Mods gave DICE money. The problem here is EA.

Heck, some players bought BF2 for Project Normandy.

Blitzkrieg and Battle of the Bulge are the best COH mods and the only real way to play COH. Eastern Front is nice but I dont play it as often as I play the other two because its still vanilla with russians. If Blitz, Bulge and EF would combine into one ultimate mod... OH MY GOD.

I've played open beta for this version, so I know something about it. The new version gives some small, but interesting new things. Elefant simply rocks!!!  ;D 1 shot Pershing frontally!!!

I stopped playing EF when my Jagdtiger was destroyed after shot from AT rifle...  ::)

I liked Normandy 44 as it has similar levels of realism as BK and they are adding Russians

Normandy 44 was my first mod I played back in the day and I loved it, however I remember it used to have some weird issues that I didnt like (please note this was during the days of the few early versions) and thus made me replace it with BotB and then Blitz.

Over the years i have purchased 5 copies (personal) of BF2 just so that I could play the mods.

There are tons of us who buy games, not for some 20 hour campaign but for the creativity that the fanbase brings to a sustainable engine which keeps us hooked for years.

[/quote]Indeed, this is one of the main reason why devs should support modders. Mods always bring a posotive feedback to the vanilla game too.

Well until the mods came out, I did put up with the B.S experience that is Vanilla BF2 and 2142.

Given the position of EA, they will never see another dollar from me unless they suck it up and right their wrongs. If enough of our wallets vote, then EA will kow-tow.

just look at Origin. Valve proved that STEAM works and suddenly EA has the bright idea to be a copycat. The executives will always follow the trail of money, its the only way that they can earn their bonuses.

I think that BF2142 is the only Battlefield that didn't need mods to be more enjoyable. The vanilla version was just awesome.

I guess you are right Heureux as 2142 was pretty fun out of the box but it still got a little spammy at times.

First Strike mod was pretty damn epic for a while, the whole star wars theme blew my mind but man it was a thankless mod team to be a part of. Lots of model grinding and practically zero testing as they kept on polishing shit up till it was so shiny that the playerbase was blinded away. (now do you remember me Flipster the Bear  ;D)

The First Strike team also had a tendency to not give proper credits to the creators of material. Was some fun while it lasted though. (haven't bothered to look for ages but I do wonder if people still play it)

Updated it and played 2 rounds as Germans, was rather nice and amusing, big difference between specialisations now, i like it.
