''Building it UP!'' builing system
« on: 20-08-2013, 08:08:56 »
i love forgotten hope 2 but like other BF2 mods such as Project Reality gives me great ideas. on this subject it is possible to build things up. such as sandbags and fox holes like in project reality there is an option to build a fence in this case it would be remodeled into sandbags 'and the rally point or FOB would be remodeled in bunch of tents and a fire pile. it will make the game also a little more tactical.

I remember this from PR and it's definitely one of the best features in the mod as it changed the gameplay. Especially building up a defensive position; razor wire, bunkers, HMG positions etc.

But anyhow I'm quite happy what FH2 is nowadays. Maybe it's not as versatile as PR but there are movable MG tripods, movable AT guns and movable mortar. Placing them right may do a lot of destruction and bring some little changes to each match played.

Wouldn't work in FH 2 - gameplay is too fast. I believe Project Normandy is what you're looking for.

Hovewer... maybe some deployable barbed wire would work, as it doesn't take much time to string a piece of wire in place (maybe some tank traps, too?)... Don't know which maps could use that though, everything seems well designed without player building in mind. I believe we already had that discussion once.

However what I would like to see fixed is the tripods disappearing if you exit them too fast. Shorten that time a little. Maybe we could have a really small sandbag in the ammo kit that can be used to provide some cover for the British and US tripods and the German laffete. But I'm afraid it would just be used to block doors or something xD

I'd like to see it in this game, but yeah, it won't happen - FH2 maps are simply too small for this...

It would be nice and would work, just no bodies willing to try it.

I find the idea absurd in a game like FH2 where you basically get no real benefit from static defences in the long run. Also some maps might be unsuitable for the deployed assets (Tunis, Brest, Sfakia to name few)

I disagree, I've gotten up to 20 some kills with a static MG before being taken down numerous times, I know a few other names here in this thread that have too.

Did it stop the enemy from advancing or cappin' the flag? Or did it just boost your score?

It delayed them so much that they almost didn't win the map (endscore: 4-0).

Nice. But still, wouldn't it ruin some of the game balance if you could lob around deployed assets? And didn't we have these already, in the form of Lafettes? I those could be extended, then no problem.
(And how would you limit the number of deployed assets?)

With scripts. Besides, it wouldn't affect balance if both sides could do it.

Yeah, I imagine Tunis with its bottlenecks corridors and at each corridor bunker!  ;D

Edit: But I've heard that it can be limited depending on map (like in PR), so I change my mind - THIS IS COOL IDEA!  ;D
