Youtube - The Damned United
Just finished watching this, taped it over the weekend.

Brilliant role acting by Michael Sheen as "old big head" Brian Cough. If you like football you'll love and laugh watching it!  ;D

Taking over England's top football club Leeds United, previously successful manager Brian Clough's abrasive approach and his clear dislike of the players' dirty style of play make it certain there is going to be friction. Glimpses of his earlier career help explain both his hostility to previous manager Don Revie and how much he is missing right-hand man Peter Taylor who has loyally stayed with Brighton & Hove Albion.

I'd give it a 9/10.  :)

The Big Lebowski.

Was on TV a few days or weeks ago, glad I could see it again. I just love everything from the Coen brothers, movie might have no real ending but it sure is good.

6/5.

I found it ambling, sort of go nowhere.

You had the flu, no clear mind, you had no idea what the movie was about. It was awesome.

And well, it's not that often on TV in the Netherlands, I had seen it before when I was younger but now I really got the story.

But then again, I'm a Coen brothers fanboy, love all of their movies.

Inception - 9/10

Definitely one of the better movies this year/last few years. To say that this movie sucks you in and twists you around a bit is a massive understatement. It's very refreshing to see a blockbuster that actually takes a look at complex ideas and requires the audience to think. A huge amount of the film was spent covering the background concepts and character motivations. I mean, there was barely enough time to get the audience to a point where it understands whats going on, there's that much to cover. This means that only the main (Di Caprio's) character is fully explored, but the director/writers did a good job giving a basic impression of the personalities of the supporting cast with the extremely brief amount of time each was allocated for introduction. Ellen Page (!=Juno) had the most time to develop her character besides Di Caprio, and she was constrained to a role that primarily expanded Di Caprio's character (role she fulfilled very well I must add).

But you're not just sitting there pondering about ideas and people-you're on the edge of your seat, following every movement and scene with wide eyes, trying to catch the detail and ramifications of everything thats happening on every level. All of the ideas and character development happen during some of the most unique and enthralling CGI I've seen in a film. I cringed a little at the occasional stormtrooper aim and bulletproof taxi, but I was so immersed in what was going on I didn't care in the long run.

Overall the film manages to combine mental and visual goldmines in a way that holds your attention like very few films do. By then end when you finally look around and realize where you are, you'll also realize that much more time has gone by than you thought, kinda like a dream. :P The only thing regrettable is that the other characters simply couldn't be developed because theres no room in the film. I found myself wanting to know more and see more of this world, but definitely left satisfied with the experience overall.

nice review Flyboy - definatley gonna catch this one.

Last night I saw Predators.  4.5/5
---------------------------------
I'm a huge Predator fan, I grew up on the errie clicks of distant hunting Predators and this film did not disappoint, ignoring the AVP films Predators puts you right back into the basic plot of Predator.  The elite of mankind vs. the Predator(s).  This time you see the Hish who are renegade Predators hunting for fun/sport, by nature they do not fight with the same honour code as the Yautja, the Hish are slightly larger and have a different facial structure, although you don't see them up close, when unmasked it looks like they have an extra set of mandibles and clearly have different eyes meaning that the seperation from the main pack of Predators must be generations old (or enough time to genetically change) - as the nut-job US soldier explains, "it's like the difference between dogs and wolves".

The movie would have got 5/5 and be on parr with the original except for a few small things...

The film is just not long enough for me (so here is the first minus .1) I was left wondering a great many things, which is nice that a movie can do that, but also annoying that I left unfulfilled...but in a good way.

My second minus .1 is that script writers still depict the Predators as an advanced alien race, but then when it suits the storyline they are nothing but a 7ft tall dumb lizard.  For a race that crafts plasma cannons and cloaking devices, and can see in a range of visual HUDs, you would think by now they might have developed a gadget that can see through cold wet mud.  As the nut-job US soldier, again expalins, - "each time one gets beat by us, they learn, come back with different tactics and weapons"... Perhaps cold wet mud is the ultimate barrier for the Predator race?

My third minus .1 is the Predator dogs, the CGi was awful, really bad, - the Wargs in LoTR were better and that film is years old now.  And also the Preda-dogs just seem to disappear, if I was loose on an alien planet, even after all the shit had died down, I'd be watching my back thinking "ok we still have to deal with those fucking Preda-dogs, they must be real hungry by now."  Plot hole! minus .1

Go see this!
