FH 0.7 dedicated on Windows Server 2008
« on: 22-04-2010, 00:04:53 »
Hey guys

Been trying to get this working for two days now, time to ask for some help.

I'm migrating our current servers to new hardware, with Windows Server 2008.

I have simply copied the complete dedicated server install folders to the new system, BFSM, BF1942 and all mods included.

After a bit of troubles, I got the server running (after setting bf1942_w32ded, BFServerManager and DedicatedServer exe's to run in Windows XP SP2 compatibilty mode).

This works fine for bf1942, xpack1, xpack2 and even bf1918 maps.

However, when switching to an fh map, the bf1942_w32ded exe crashes during the map change.

Been trying several things, but have to admit I'm clueless atm on how to get this fixed.

FYI, also found the thread on how to get FH client to work on Windows 7 (the windows 98/Me mode fix), but this makes things worse for the dedicated server side (as it won't even run an simple bf1942 map than).

Also, to be sure I have Content Check mode and Punkbuster turned off (just to make sure those don't give any troubles).

Anyone any experience running a BF1942 + FH server in Windows Server 2008? Or Vista or Windows 7?

Thanks

HiHo!

I have the same problem. I also upgraded server hardware and software and FH 0.7 is impossible to start anymore. All other mods like DC are running without any problems.Did you find a sollution for that?

Kind regards

Did you copy the install folder or clean install?

you can run multiple virtual servers on one win08 server. you know you can get more used from server resources and people cant mess up the main one

HeyHo!

Ok - then  I will try it by setting up a virtual server. Hope that works... :)
Thanks for the hint!
