Wasn't a stone throw in the movie. They looked through binoculars during the movie, remember.
And a fww 100yards is still in 88 range. Shelling with 88 at that distance will be inaccurate, but quite possible.

And they DID run quite a bit to get to it, no? In FH1, that distance was almost half the effective map.
I think the distance was reasonable.

Shelling with 88 at 100 yards is inaccurate? Dude, that thing had an effective range of 16 200 yards on ground targets. I must have misunderstood you somehow.

I had only couple of hours sleep so Im not at my sharpest right now.

I would say, because we aren't disagreeing.

Eeehm yes. You say 88 is inaccurate at 100 yards, wghereas FW states that the 88 has an effective range of 16200 yards, which is 162 times higher.  ???

Umm.... 100 yards is point-blank distance for the 88, there would be hardly any shell drop (about 6 cm), if out of nowhere comes a 25m/s storm gust (for which the gunner has not compensated) directly perpendicular to the flight path, the shell will land a whopping 1,67m off target. Wartime manuals estimate that 50% of shots at range of 200m would hit in a 10cmx20cm box. It still packs 1kg of explosives and 8kg shrapnel, so this is rather negligible as the would-be target will be a pile of bloody pulp anyway.

Shelling infatry with 88 = firing a straight tragectory weapon against a wooded area with unseen infantry.
I'm not speaking of how accurate the gun is, I'm speaking of how accurate it was in Foy's instance.

I'm referring to playability as a result of keeping realistic distances and yet getting the effect in the BoB series.

We WERE talking about distances in real life compared to the movie... I was just using the 88 shelling as a means of saying, the movie may have been more accurate than it seemed.

it was a casual point, really not supposed to be overly dissected this way.

Official word (via official news update) is this:

"In other news, we are still working hard to get the Eastern Front ready, and you should expect to see some more Soviet and German equipment from that theatre in the news. But we might also have a few other surprises before the Eastern Front patch. Keep a look out for some new scenarios and content in our current theatres."

And ruskies arn't arriving next patch so:
Not necessarily correct.

says who exactly?!?
Devs, kinda. But I think you and I were both saying the same thing.

Do you have any info that they are?
Read the news updates.

I like this thread.
Must be real fun to watch us fall over ourselves trying to figure things out :)

I will say very good job with trying to determine the test maps pizzzaman :) A quite scientific approach to the ongoing investigation.

When you say really buggy, can you be a bit more specific?

We are of course working on a new version where we will address bugs along with adding some new content. It will not feature Russian Front nor Pacific though, and that's all I can say about the contents of the next version..

Before X-mas would be preferable, but we won't promise anything..

After 2 months, I rest my case.

Maybe it's just set in stone now, and wasn't before.

This is getting a bit out of hand...

Hmmm...

As many of you are no doubt aware, there has recently been a continuing test of a larger than 64 player server, using code developed by Nemes1s. If these tests result in a successful outcome, then Forgotten Hope 2 will be updated to take advantage of larger server sizes

Myabe they doubled up the map sizes? Ya' know; A is 2x2 km and AA is 4x4?

Obviously the AA map is the fixed A map (improved quality)... But unfortunately, the devs don't release maps until they're at least AAA quality. :P
This sentence is intentionally left unfinished...

There have been many hints in the news updates that suggest that we may have the Italian theatre as a christmas present. That would be outright awesome
