Well, it's all coming how I imagined it would, that's why I wrote yesterday that Spain will win the Euro again.
At last, it's a bit lucky for Italy, but in the end it's Löw's mistake.
Bringing a Gomez, who is technically vastly inferior and not able to keep up the excellent passing game which gives the german team its strength against tough and close defending Italians, which does not allow him to play his "I'll wait in the box and kick the ball in as soon as it happens to find my feet"-game, is bad enough.
But playing Podolski all the time is a disgrace. You have talented, strong technical players on the bench, and Podolski plays AGAIN AND AGAIN, since 2006. He has virtually no playing intelligence, his passing game is sloppy, his movement off the ball is hardly visible and his defensive play is literally non-existant. He might well be the worst player in the whole german squad.
I wonder if Tim Wiese could play worse on the left flank.
I guess not. Löw is a good coach overall, but this is something he has been doing over and over, and Podolski, although he scored a goal, hasn't played otherwise than he did today in the matches so far, in all the matches since 2010, actually. The only thing he has on his side is an excellent shooting technique, hats off. But that's simply not enough, he is like a foreign particle in the german play.
Man, this is annoying, even though I supposed this to happen.
Only plus: We don't lose against Spain in the finals, as we would have otherwise.
