I started reading that post and it took me like 5 sentences to realize it wasn't about Brexit.

I got tired of all the cloning of major EU characters too. Way too many Angela Merkel's walking about.

Just saw Rogue One today. All in all a good movie that is worth seeing if you are a Star Wars fan. Action is very intense, progression is hastened, but the the plot is still pretty much comprehensible.

Best movie? No. But quite a nice one that will keep you entertained and plugs some holes for the prequels. Definitely better than TFA.

There is just too much inside references for non-Star Wars familiars to understand. The CGI-ed characters are too obvious, they looked and moved about like a character from that 3D Star Wars series in Disney XD.

For what its worth, I think what they achieved with the current tech is really good. To me there were only a couple of moments where the uncanny valley effect played, but after seeing the movie twice now, I am within the camp that the cgi on these characters was just fine. No, they arent perfect and yes you can always improve but to realise that generating a believable human is like the most difficult thing to do, especially for people who's faces are well known... I think this is more of a demonstration and an achievement what can be done. Yeah, in 5 to 10 years this will look ridiculously dated but how it is right now, please let me know where to find more believable cgi humans so I can compare them to the ones in Rogue One.

There were definitely moments where the cgi shines through but in most cases I found the results very satisfying.

The graphic is indeed very nice. I am specifically pointing out to that one particular character we all known. The downside is more due to how the character is animated. (SPOILER!) Grand Muff Tarkin's gesture and facial expression is very pretty much animic rather than humanoid, the way he quickly nods and frowns, makes him more like a cartoon character than a convincing human. There are other animated characters which are pretty much well done in comparison.

Man, being an ambassador in the Middle East sucks today. And being Russian in the Middle East sucks twice as much.

Let's all hope the WW III preppers are all wrong and we all get to enjoy a few more decades of relative peace before we all end up in a Mad-Max style wasteland ...

CGI humans surprisingly look better in R1 when surrounded by real humans or imposed on a "real" set (so that your eyes won't focus solely on the CGI face), but when the background is a CGI starfield and no other humans are onscreen the immersion breaks (you pay too much attention on the face which is the most "catchy" object in the picture).

Nevertheless, R1 was noticeably better than TFA in that it does not play safe and is entirely original (plus it's refreshing to see something outside the saga). Then again, TFA was calculated to make you FEEL things and very succesful in that, but then again, R1 has much better ground and space fights (both could be best in the saga in fact). Despite the GRIMDARK! it's still an exhilarating romp across varied physical sets instead of standing in front of a greenscreen.

I have to see it several more times to see how it holds against IV and V (which I'm juggling at the moment for the #1 spot). Could be IV (it's the original, plus the Trench Run is still baws) = V (the sequel that dared to be different and more adult) => R1 (see above) > VII (well, this is the only real place for this - no inherent faults but perhaps too safe) > VI (those frakking Ewoks, Luke's rescue plan is harebrained enough to have been written by Lucas) > III (even GL couldn't fully screw this premise up, though he tried his best with eg. General Grievous) > power gap > I (it's overtly noisy children's movie that would be much better by toning down Jar Jar, but at least it was intended to be a children's movie, though now the dark undertones and the political intrigue fit awkwardly) > II (the most contrived and totally incomprehensible plot ever if you didn't read all the books and comics, wooden acting, bad CGI including the ending battle that now looks like a bad PS2 game, the works).

Everything is a useless bloodshed. Does not matter if it is a innocent people or a terrorist. Killing is no real solution and as long as it stays like it, no peace, no solution will be found.

Unless of course you kill everyone.

A few weeks ago I found out that my pilot friend has turned from his Wahabiism and Muslim Brotherhood (which group idolises Erdogan, that I strongly suspect a member of) conspiracy tendencies into a normal person. At least from his facebook post, he became even more liberal-leaning. But the other one, working for Dubai is still not. I get the sense that every normal human being, Paris-lover, sausage-fan, German football team supporter guy like him could one day be driven into the likes of would-be attacker. And he doesn't have to do much to make a silly phone video declaring last-minute ISIS pledge of allegiance. It was enough to send the whole western security services into panick and admire ISIS global network of attackers, while in fact, they have none, just a normal "westernised" person being lunatic at a time and actually took the chance. The Turkish riot police were probably not "that underground secret scheming terrorist cell" with fanatical outbursts as shown in many western interpretation, like some neo nazi ganging up to plan their march through the city. They could be one of the guy in my Facebook friend's list, working for a British recording company, fancying Sex Pistols, suddenly triggered by one of Trump quotes or Palestinian sad news and took that chance.

Chance? Yes! When I was in Rome or Milan, standing in the middle of Colloseum or Piazza del Duomo, give me unsettling thoughts of how easy it was for a random guy to inflict so much casualities. Nobody was even remotely alert. My brother reaffirmed my worries: yes, Firenze or Pisa's narrow streets makes it less possible, but these Rome and Milan plazas are very vulnerable. The two Carabineris posted in every public places won't do much. In Asian / Latin American countries, when we saw the militaries or police forces in full gear, we saw security. In western countries, I get this sense that they immidiately assumes military presence to be "living under fear", worries, tyranny, and so on. Good thing we put those VABs and a platoon of well armed army soldiers near the German embassy. So yeah, useless bloodshed for both.

Don't be mistaken so easily, Zoo. There is a lot of "invisible protection" around.
