If you ever feel like cooking one of the many recipes mentioned in ASOIAF, check out the Inn at the Crossroads. You get hungry just by looking at the pics. :D
And so he spoke, and so he spoke, that lord of Castamere,
But now the rains weep o'er his hall, with no one there to hear.
Yes now the rains weep o'er his hall,
and not a soul to hear.

Currently listening to the season 2 soundtrack while my computer is converting episode 9 to .avi so I can watch it on my TV (it can't read .mkv over the network).

EDIT:

Wow, that was awesome.

The battle itself felt a bit cheap-ish at some points, but the Wildfire looked great. The scenes inside Meagors Holdfast reminded me quite alot of a certain movie, also depicting the end of a ruler inside a bunker. Very well done.
The ending was phenomenal, Tywin is, as cruel as he sometimes is, a truely capable man. No wonder the realm blossomed when he was Hand to Aerys II.

Watching that episode with everything else blacked out (windows, 2nd screen, door) and just after a hefty meal and plenty of beer = awesome. Every episode of this series is like a good movie, I love it.

Another episode of great mixed feelings for me. On the one side I was cheering for Tyrion, Bronn and Varys but on the other side I cheered for Stannis and Davos. But the appearance of Tywin made up for that. And I actually had to google what that whole Baratheon knight thing was about. Renly's armour, I miss Renly. But the one person that won this episode was.. Sandor Clegane. "Fuck the King!". I shall miss his presence in King's Landing.

Anyone else who liked the 'contrast of Kings' in this episode? Joffrey fleeing the scene while Stannis was the first guy off the boat and on the ladder.

Ugh, nothing happened again...

</kidding>

Best episode of the 2nd season so far.

One thing bothers me, the same as in LOTR Two Towers: why spend time and resources on mighty fortifications if it takes half an hour to overrun them anyway?

And I'd prefer that Tywin waited behind the doors for a couple of minutes  ;)

Wildfire explosion, the THeTA0123 said it:

I had a Untergang feeling as well. For a minute, I thought the wine was poisoned when she encouraged our little flower to drink and drink.

Wow. What a rush. Dinklage was exquisite once more. But otherwise: Nooooooooooo! You WILL burn someday Geoffrey, you WILL BURN!! ;D

Gavrant, screen time is not real time. Maybe the battle took 5 hours, you don't know. Also it had been said that the Mud Gate was crap, weak and old.

Even if it took 5 hours, it's still quite impressive how easy Stannis got foothold on the walls and King's Landing caught a defeatism, with no surprise factor and the Mud Gate's weakness predicted by Tyrion.

...

Are you kidding? How else were we to know that there is a 16 titted God on the Summer Island. That is useful information, my friend.
This episode had me laughing , especially Bronn. His expression is cracking me up.
What you gonna do with 16 of them? Even 3 look erm... strange (see Total Recall with Schwarzenegger as example).
And Bronn for president!

Have you been paying any attention to the story so far? King's Landing had barely any defenders and the Mud Gate was woefully inadequate to withstand any real attack. I find no strangeness that "the largest fleet in the 7 kingdoms" could almost breach the weakest point of a huge city defended by a few archers & the kings guard.

The usual way to take a fortified city is after a long siege. Thick and tall wall prevents enemy breaking them and/or throwing burning or otherwise nasty things over the wall. And it should be noted that a wall is only as strong as its weakest gatehouse. The last two kings were a mad man and a drunken fool, the maintenance of walls/gates was not high on their list.

And then there is the fast (and costly) way to capture a city. Storming the walls. This usually works if the attacker has much stronger army, for it is relatively easy to defend walls even with a small number of soldiers.

Stannis had the numbers and he knew the walls and its gates.
