Health provider's give a family insurance plan.  Thus, her health insurance covers her adopted children.  However, because she and her gf can't marry, that family plan doesn't count, as she it not considered family.  Yet another reason to legalize gay marriage.

Or the fact that hospitals in the USA have to give treatment, especially emergency treatment, regardless of if you have insurance.

Anyways, the REAL hospital argument in gay marriage is that, since civil unions and etc are not considered family, you are not allowed to visit, stay in for surgeries or such, or really have any contact with a patient outside of visitor hours.  You are also unable to ride in the ambulance or such, in order to tell EMT's about allergies or such.
