I never really liked BF1942; felt terrible to play to be honest. The idea was fun though. You could find me on FH1, FinnWars and mostly Galactic Conquest.

I was 10/11 when I played this LAN with friends and classmates at the local computer store. Such great fun. That man even installed Desert Combat on his LAN PC's.

I. I keep all the mods installed, in hopes that maybe somebody will be playing FH1, Pirates, or Desert Combat, and I still to this day, think Battlefield 1942 is the BEST battlefield game ever released.

Fh1 is populated still during Euro time zones.

DC rocks it out in North American time zone

and don't forget that FhSW is packed everyday during japan peak time.

I will never love a game more than 1942.

So there was a tank entry animation ready since the 1st Battlefield? And we still don't have those? That's clearly just being lazy as hell...

Parts of those animations are still within the BF42 build.

I also believe that had we cared more about sales than what the game really was, I don’t think it would have turned out as great as it did. The whole reason we did Battlefield 1942 was to create a game WE wanted to play.

it just hurts to read this.

Well yeah it might look like they have forgotten this when they developed BF 3, but you have to understand that it's not about what THEY want to play anymore... It's a lot more people involved now and the pressure of success is much, much greater.

Although I still can't forgive them everything they did, I can understand them.

M-hm. It would be great to return to the Second World War. There is so much left to do.

I wish they did.

That's a good interview with some of the 1942 devs!

Check out  this video and you can actually see those docks they show in a screenshot:
