  I don't know about you guys, but I think that the Tanks should have separate Gunner and Driver positions. I know that Finn Wars did this and it improved realism immensely. Coordination among the tank crew would be a terrible problem, but FH2 treats infantry so nicely why can't it treat tanks in such detail? Now, my idea would be to lower the number of tanks in-game and  allow tank crews to have their own Fireteams. Would it be possible to do this with the stupid BF2 engine?

That would lead to less tanks, after all we have only 32 players per team.

sure it would be possible (looks at PR)
but FH dosent want this. not everyone wants to play "together"
and even those who do dont have a microphone. now imagine you are gunner in the tank and the driver goes somewhere you dont want to yelling wont hlep because he only speaks russian or something.
it would be to frustrating and would end in people driving off alone in a tank and need to switch positions to fire (looks at RO).

sure this wokrs well and is great fun when you play with people you know and have a voIP line open to but in FH2 this is by far the minority.

And since most of PR players are Americans, language is not a big barrier.

FH are mostly played by Europeans who have English as their second language (except 'that' particular country).

I played a lot of games of tanking where the player positions are crew specific (driver, gunner, commander) like Op: Flahspoint. And most of the games i played are modern wars. One WW2-themed game or mods that i know having this kind of feature is Battlegroup Frontline. And the mod is dead IIRC. WW2 is all about massive tank battles (e.g. Kursk). And to reenact such scenario in BF2, it would only be possible with the current FH2's tanking system.

I second that

It's why I play FH it maintains a good balance between realism and player freedom.

In a perfect world with 256 player servers, where I knew the people I was playing with regularly and all spoke english I would love two crew tanks, hell I would want three crew tanks with commander, gunner & driver, but from realism a argument I think it's unnessary as tanks behave pretty realisticly now.

Not having cross hairs in the main view means the majority of players stop to aim & shoot as it should be. I rarely see people trying to shoot on the move and when they do they are going to miss nine times out of ten.

Yet another suggestion that would be great in a perfect world. The negatives unfortunately far outweigh the positives.

I add...

Tank crews are supposed to work with perfect coordination. All tank crews has guys from the same nation, who can understand what is the other one saying.

FH2 already have crews of 2-3, Commander, MG Gunner and Top-Tower Gunner for some tanks, many people ignores the MG Front Gunner completly, its damn usefull. It sees what the tank doesnt see..



Especially the M13/40 Gunner position, you can waste all the rounds of MG Left Side and start using the MG Right Side, by far, it has the best MG system in all FH2 Tanks.

you can't seperate positions because %50 of players have no idea what they are doing :-\ they are just hiding in the bushes or shooting spawnpoints with he shells
Basically, axis bias has removed. Glad its being noticed.

what i think about the seperate gunners is conditional. i'd like the ability to one-man light and medium tanks, but the heavy tanks, Tiger, cromwell, KonigsTiger, etc., ...it may improve balance issues and make sure tanks crews are more responsible for thier heavy assets.
But, its really only a thought, i'm not suggesting this.

I must smile everytime i read a in a Perfect game world with 256 you can have all this. but imagine to fight with 256 tanks? ;D not 64 with 3 people inside each tank. when i want this experience i play a singleplayergame against bots.

Anyone wanna re-experience the torment of positioning your wespe with the allied in full glory in front of you, just about to start lobbing down shell after shell on them, 5 freshly spawned allies on say Battle of the Bulge or Bocage, but... but.. wait, WTF? someone jumped in the driver seat and starts moving away!? ignoring my spamming of the "get out" command.

Also bots did that... and they were serius. They runned straight into enemy positions.. what a fail tank for  the love of god :P

And how does shooting spawn points w/ HE mean you Don't know what your doing? I do that all the time im assaulting flags/defending open areas (Falaise) and still have no problems dealing with tanks when they pop up.

Michael Wittmann's gunner, Bobby Woll, was known to be an excellent Marksman.
He could hit targets at range even on the move.

you can avoid that by allowing only payers of the same squad to operate with you , if they dont cooperate , kick them , then if they dont leave , they die ^^
