Captured Panhard 178 on Easterfront

Before I get all the "fuck you Turkish007! We hate you for suggesting stuff! You freaking bastard!We're so much more superior than you!" comments rolling around this thread, I want to make this clear that I will make this thread actually sound in your taste of a forum thread.


The Panhard 178 (which is a French light armoured combat vehicle) was also fielded on the Eastern Front as a railway defense system by the Germans. They captured plenty of French vehicles in the 1940 blitz into France.

Is it possible to see this in FH2 Eastern Front? Well as I remember the upcoming map Prokhorovka had a railroad, could it be put into use in that map maybe?

It would basically work like the train we have in FH2, operating on one railway system (tyres were changed with railway-fitting ones) but capable to shoot. I think it would be pretty neat!

Yes, I am aware of the French Hope Panhard 178. I also have enjoyed messing around with it pretty much in the public events they organised. Thanks anyways.

The video also suggests that it wasnt used at the front, but way behind fighting partisans. That doesnt quite fit the battles FH2 depicts I think.
Also what about the question if it has been used at for example prokohovka? Since one of FH2 goals is historical accuracy only vehicles wich were actually used at the given battel should be on the map I think.

IIRC the Panhard on the ostfront was specifically used as a forward scout for armoured trains, with wheels equipped to use on rails.  Since this was mostly an anti-partisan thing, and it worked in tandem with armoured trains, chances of seeing it anytime soon are low, though I wouldn't say out of the question.

Was it used at all as just a regular scouting vehicle? If so, maybe have it just for that first, and then the railroad later.  I think it would be a pretty cool thing to have, just something different for the mod.

IIRC it was, but only in 1941, after most were destroyed in that first year, the rest were pulled into the rail service.
