hey guys, just pieced together a new machine. Mostly for gaming. What do you guys think? Only ran me about $550-600. I waited for big sales and saved serious money.

I understand that its not gonna break any benchmarks. But so far its DAMN FAST and still plays all my games maxed out. Like BF3, Dead Island, and FH2 of course!

A while back I was being a total nerd and looking at a number of Pacific Islands involved in WWII using Google Earth. I was browsing through Kwajalein and saw a wreck in the coastal waters. "Oh neat!" Only to find out that it was the Prinz Eugen. I was incredibly excited, mostly because I had been playing Rheinuebung earlier that day  Small world.

I had read about the Eugen, they were trying to get her out deeper. I would have loved to see an intact german warship. Dont know why but ive always ben infatuated with WW2 German warships. Even though in the grand scheme of things they didnt really effect the war. Sure they tied up resources and made headlines. But they were obsolete pretty quick.

Anyway, I went out and saw the Iowa at anchor, and damn a battleship looks cool in Person. just watching her on the horizon was cool. Then she just kept getting bigger and bigger until we were about 200ft away. Really cant wait to go inside and see the internals.

Iowa wasn't in Gulf War, that was Wisconsin and Missouri.  Iowa is actually the only Iowa class that did not take part in combat in the 80s/early 90s, with New Jersey being used in Lebanon.

Also, the ships have been out of service since 1992, but have been kept at a state of readiness.  IIRC, they must be kept, even as museum ships, at a state where they could return to service at short notice, as the Marine Corps does not believe modern air and naval assets can provide proper fire support for amphibious operations.

Yup, I got confused. She had the turret explosion in '89. They never fully fixed turret 2 so she couldnt take part.

Yep, I will be visiting her next week I hope!

Wont be able to get on board until after July 7th. But should be visible from a lot of different places. I really want to see her out in open water before shes permanently surrounded by cranes and cruise ships! Hopefully get to watch her be towed in too.

What would be the benefit other than the looks? I love the way FH looks. If they made a WW2 movie now with all kinds of modern approaches(think G.Lucas) it wouldnt look as gritty and realistic.

When they made Saving Ryans Privates they used old school methods to get the old school look.

Id much rather see more content and theaters than just redoing everything in a new engine.

Sounds good, I think everyone who cares about FH2 should start a thread somewhere on the day 2.45 is released. While they are installing and just staring at the screen. Just spread the news and they should come a sniffin. We'll need more North American attention and the Allies in Afrika will help.
