I don't see your point? Do you need a shotgun to be a menace for others? O.o

And - as long as i dunno exactly if he had any mollys in the back - i think its ok if the police shot. Although five shots may be a little too much :-D

> Could be that his legs were out of firing sight <

Exactly. Maybe they/he were/was behind a wall or a fence or sth so the Policemen couldn't aim at them.

Even so, it is an unjustified increase in Police brutality that has no constitutional/lawful backing.
Read the laws and be careful before saying things like it's ok that the the police shot him.
How soon will we see the police shooting into a crowd of demonstrators because they think they see a Molotov cocktail or any other weapon... (overpainting it now, but I don't see how else to make the point.)

You sound like a Spaniard  :o

Oh now that's a new one, why do I sound like a spaniard?
Spanish policemen have somewhat fear to use their weapons because they might end in prision, even if they are risking their lives.
Shit happens,a policeman or a criminal is hurt, the topic revives and your argument is very commonly used by one side...
(I just intented to make a somehat fun comment)

Ok n24 have your read what he did?

"ANSBACH, Germany — An 18-year-old armed with an ax, knives and Molotov cocktails attacked his high school in southern Germany on Thursday, injuring eight pupils and a teacher before police shot and arrested him, authorities said.

He climbed to the third floor, where he lit a Molotov cocktail and threw it into an 11th grade classroom, apparently striking a girl in the head and burning several other people, authorities said.

He then attacked some nearby girls with the ax, inflicting serious skull wounds on one of them, said Udo Dreher, the top police officer at the scene.

"The attacker was armed with an ax, several knives and another Molotov cocktail," said Dreher. "As he moved toward the officers, they opened fire and then arrested him."

About 700 other pupils were able to evacuate the building, taking shelter in a nearby unemployment office where they were being treated by psychologists and counselors, officials said."

I think this is the exact reason why the policie should bear firearms, whether they had to should shoot him in the legs or not.

Smiles revenge is not a basis for a state of law. Sure that guy is a sorry loser and should be punished, not saying anything against that, I'm just reflecting on the police action in this case.

I have nothing against police bearing arms, the state in my opinion should be the only force allowed to exact power, but not indiscriminately. Lowering the bar when someone is allowed to shoot someone else does not help to make things safer.

Right so, a few years back German police had to think along the same lines as their Spanish counterparts and that was good. I still believe that the same laws apply in Germany, but it is like no one seems to care any more.

Nono dont get me wrong, im not talking about shooting him out of revenge but im just pointing out that those policemen, whom were problably human too, entered a school  with 700 people in it, and faced mr butcher with his axe and knives and even a molotov. Sure, 1 guy might have thought im going to shoot this guy between his eyes, maybe even two, but however i do know its policy that when your own live is in danger you either do 2 things, you act, or you back off. And i think these guys couldnt have backed off with still having to evacuate all those people inside. But i agree, 5 bullets in torso seemsinappropriate.

Good to know that you are an expert on police work N24.

Let me charge you with an Axe in close quarters and then you take aimed shots to the legs.

We'll see who is left standing.

Aye.
That guy hid inside a toilet and attacked the officers with an axe in a very close environment. An aimed warning shot wouldn´t be possible in such a situation and wouldn´t have stopped him.
And so he spoke, and so he spoke, that lord of Castamere,

Yes now the rains weep o'er his hall,

You fail to see the point.
If what homer says is true about the toilet, then it is even more so a debatable action since no one else was in danger if the police knew that he was in there...

========================================

Thx smiles, I see what you mean. As I've stated before, I debate that the action was appropriate in this situation.

Your point is moot.

They fire as many shots as needed to take down an attacker.

Doesn't matter if it looks pretty or not.

It may be moot in your eyes, but what I'm just set back by how easily people accept the way things went in this case.
Policemen have helmets and Flak-vests, I believe that a boy without any combat training and armed with an axe can be controlled/tackled in another way than shooting him.

But hell as you say I am discussing a moot point,... he's a criminal so kill em all. *twothumbsup!*

You´re sure he was wearing body protection?
And still, wearing a Flak vest doesn´t protect you entirely. I´d say, let´s jsut wait for an official report and THEN judge the action of the police.
And so he spoke, and so he spoke, that lord of Castamere,

They could've made a smiley with bullet holes. :)
